First shots of Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo?

04.01.2010

Yikes!

So the images above popped up on a website called The Movie Insider, and they're what seem to be incomplete 3D renders of Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo from the upcoming live-action/CG-animated YOGI BEAR movie (at least I hope they are).

But I'm sorry, incomplete or not, they're butt-ugly and creepy looking. They appeared late yesterday on /Film, and I was kind of on the fence as to whether or not they were an April Fool's Day gag. I kinda doubt it, though.

The film stars Dan Aykroyd as the voice of Yogi and Justin Timberlake as the voice of Boo-Boo. Leading the humans is Anna Faris as Rachel, a nature documentarian who's... documenting at the famed but troubled Jellystone Park. She's joined by Jon Stewart doppelganger Tom Cavanagh ("Ed") as Ranger Smith and Andy Daly ("The Life and Times of Tim", "Eastbound & Down") as Mayor Brown.

YOGI BEAR, from director Eric Brevig (JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, "Xena: Warrior Princess") and writer Brad Copeland (WILD HOGS, "Arrested Development"), is due out Dec 17th.

Extra Tidbit: Director Eric Brevig was a visual effects supervisor on CAPTAIN EO, which was just recently re-released.

YOGI BEAR

Yogi looks creepy indeed but these are stills that for some reason captured the creepy pics we see above, I'm sure the bears will lookk adorable when we see them in action.

I'm okay with it.

Works for me. I knew they would obviously have visible fur, but they're still recognizeable as the cartoon counterparts. What more could one want? A B.S. movie is slightly inevitable, but as far as their looks go, I like them.

I agree

It's hard to argue with a character that wears a tie and a hat but is supposed to be a real bear... and actually looks like the best possible combination. I really don't see them as shocking or creepy... Though, Boo-Boo could use some work, he's clashing way too much with the great-looking Yogi Bear.

Wha...?

Wait. I though T.J. Miller was playing Ranger Smith. What happened to that? That dude's hilarious.

Just because they look like the cartoon they win points from me. Even Garfield didn't look like the damn cartoon. Does that mean I'll watch it? HEELLL NO! But I can appreciate people who have an appreciation for source material.

I think I would've rather Aykroyd dressed up in a bear costume.

Yea they look faithful enough to me.

And I've always said Dan Aykroyd should do more voice over work

I agree with most ocmments here in that they do look authentic and maybe what Scooby Doo should have done. (ripe for a remake?).

Although if I saw either of them coming at me in the woods I would probably run a mile, unless I was armed in which case I'd open up both barrels in his face......

Very Good Likeness

to the Hanna-Barbera originals! Plus Anna Faris is in it so I'll give it a whirl!

Okay, feel free to hate me but the picture (at least for now) looks quite faithful to the original Hanna- Barbera cartoons I grew up watching. Wait until we see some teaser trailer and I'll decide later to love or hate it.

Can't believe I'm actually saying this, but I don't mind them. Think they look fairly faithful to the cartoon originals?
