First trailer for Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier brings the heat!

It’s here!

The first trailer for director Joe and Anthony Russo‘s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, the third entry of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe Phase 2 and sequel to 2011’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER has arrived. Starring Chris Evans as the star-spangled “man out of time” the sequel adapts Ed Brubaker’s seminal “Winter Soldier” run from the comics, which features a mysteriously resurrected familiar face from Cap’s past, Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). Joining Cap in this modern-day fight is Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Agent 13 (Emily Van Camp), and Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon (Anthony Mackie).

Suit up!:

Here’s the synopsis:

Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

The Winter Soldier storyline is my favorite from all the Cap comics and I just can’t stress enough how smart I think Marvel and the Russo Bros. were for pursuing it for the sequel. By the looks of the trailer, they’ve really captured the essence and grit of the story, which comes off every bit like a mystery thriller with tons of action, than just a standard superhero “punch-’em-up.” It’s an intricately woven tale with very personal repurcussions for Cap and I can’t wait to see it all come to life on the big screen. While some still have their reservataions about this, I’ll once again toss my hat in the ring for this being my most anticipated of 2014.

Has this trailer changed your mind about the film for the better or worse?

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Toby Jones, Hayley Atwell, and Robert Redford hits on April 4, 2014.
