First trailer for Stand Up Guys with Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, and Alan Arkin hits

Sep. 13, 2012by:

The first trailer for STAND UP GUYS, starring Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, Alan Arkin, and Julianna Margulies has hit and it's much more dramatic than I anticipated.  The stills of the project thus far have looked a bit comical in nature and I was left with the impression that it would be more funny than serious, but the trailer has a much more grim feel to it, which isn't exactly a terrible thing.  I'm more interested in seeing it now than I was before, based on this trailer.

Directed by Fisher Stevens, the story follows "a pair of aging con men (Pacino and Walken) trying to get the old gang back together for one last hurrah before one of the guys takes his last assignment -- to kill his comrade."

No drugs at the bar:

STAND UP GUYS is slated to hit theaters on January 11, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: Nice to see Pacino and Walken still putting it out there.

I motion that from this point forward he only be referred to as "Academy Award Winner Fisher Stevens".

This actually looks pretty great, even if it doesn't wind up being, you know, a good kind of great (it is being released in January after all). Looks like Chris Walken is on a roll here with Seven Psychopaths and A Late Quartet, and I couldn't be happier. When he's not screaming his head off, Pacino can play the tired old guy like nobody's business. Reminds me of some of those old buddy/crime movies of yesteryear.

Definitely looking a lot more heartfelt than what I was expecting. Looks like Pacino is finally back in his A-game!
