First trailer for Steve Jobs biopic Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher and Josh Gad plugs in

Jun. 21, 2013by: Paul Shirey

The first trailer for the Steve Jobs biopic, JOBS, has arrived. Following the life of the innovative mastermind behind the exact computer I'm typing on at this very moment, amongst other Apple products that now serve as the lifeblood of the existence of millions (myself included), the film stars Ashton Kutcher as JOBS with Josh Gad playing fellow innovator Steve Wozniak, with a solid supporting cast that includes Dermot Mulroney, James Woods, Ron Eldard, and Matthew Modine. It looks like a pretty engaging film and, although I'm not exactly an Ashton Kutcher fan, I'm willing to give him a shot and see what he brings to the table.

Plug in:

Here's the synopsis:

The story of Steve Jobs' ascension from college dropout into one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of the 20th century.

JOBS, starring Ashton Kutcher, Josh Gad, James Woods, Matthew Modine, Dermot Mulroney, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons, Leslie Ann Warren, Amanda Crew, and Ron Eldard is set to upload to theaters on August 16, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: The Newroom's Aaron Sorkin is also working on a Steve Jobs biopic. Which do you think will be better? This might be a rhetorical question...

Jobs didn't mastermind Apple computers. He was a salesman and a slave-driver, but Wozniak designed the initial Apple computers and Jony Ive designed all of the products that became synonymous with Apple's resurgence. Jobs wasn't even a programmer. People make the mistake of thinking he built and designed all of Apple's products. He didn't. He had final say over everything, but he didn't create them.

That said, he still deserves a better movie than this one.

Too early to judge right now. It could be surprisingly good, or just a boring movie. I'm hoping to be pleased.

I'm sorry but Ashton looks terrible in, at least Noah Wyle looked like him and was believable, I think the whole thing looks like over extraggerated shit... Hope Sorkins is better.

This looks like a corny pile of garbage. Kutcher has never been convincing, nor likeable, since That 70s Show. And it's not that he even just plays himself -- he's just a bad actor. And this just reeks of a slightly over-budgeted TV movie. I'll pass.

Not half bad

Maybe my expectations were so low that this trailer actually came off as... not too shabby. However, I'll wait for some more snippets to come out before I make a final judgement.

So, after the Facebook creator, the Apple creator.
What's next? Microsoft ? Google? YouTube?

Never seen a movie about Marie Curie, Pasteur, Isaac Newton, Gutenberg....

Pirates of Silicon valley is the best Steve and Bill GAtes film ever....

...as much as Aston might look like Steve ...I still dig the guy Silicon Valley more...why couldnt they just cast him and call the film Pirates of the silicon valley 2 and do the later years of Steve...the guy who played Steve in Pirates is old enough now and would have looked the part......
I dont dig Astons quirky voice and dont buy him as Steve either ...he may look like him but i still dont dig him as Steve. The movie has no attraction!

P.S the only film I like Kutcher in was Spread!

Nah!

I have nothing against Kutcher as a person, in fact banging out Demi Moore with other chicks is a pretty sweet notch on the life checklist! But he is not a good actor by any stretch of the imagination and he is nowhere near the caliber of actor that should be taking on this iconic role. Josh Gad on the other hand is very talented and I believe could be a very respected and popular actor if he chooses his projects correctly, so that is a plus. But this movie looks like pure drivel; also isn't

But this movie looks like pure drivel; also isn't Aaron Sorkin writing a Jobs biopic as well? If so that will clearly be superior to this and if he and Fincher work together again I think that film could be serious awards bait! I'm 100% passing on this in theaters but maybe I will catch it on Netflix out of sheer curiosity.

Noah Wyle can still rest easy

If this trailer is indicative of the movie, "Pirates of Silicon Valley" is to "Jobs" as a 12-Core Mac Pro is to my old Apple IIe.

You gotta give them one thing...

...when you chose Ashton Kutcher and Josh Gad to play computer geniuses, you don't go for the obvious casting.

I'm still not convinced Kutcher is right for the part, though. The fact he is such a big fan will not help. Someone like Ryan Gosling would've added more bite to the part.
