First trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s documentary And Everything Is Going Fine is now online

If you take a look at director Steven Soderbergh (CONTAGION, THE INFORMANT!) and his body of work, you’ll immediately notice that the filmmaker boasts a pretty tremendously varied CV. As the years pass, it’ll be interesting to look back at what throughlines or thematic similarities his films share and what they say about the man himself.

But for now, his latest effort is a documentary – a tribute to the late ‘monologuist’ (not to mention actor, playwright, screenwriter, and performance artist) Spalding Gray – titled AND EVERYTHING IS GOING FINE. The film is a collection of footage of the man’s words and insights, edited and distilled to effectively create a whole new monologue in the process. Great for Spalding fans and maybe even more so for Soderbergh’s die hards.

AND EVERYTHING IS GOING FINE opens in theaters on December 10th.

Synopsis: AND EVERYTHING IS GOING FINE, an incisive and entertaining portrait of Spalding Gray by director Steven Soderbergh provides an intimate look at the master monologist as described by his most critical, irreverent and insightful biographer: Spalding Gray. Soderbergh distills 25 years of rare and revealing footage to construct a riveting final monologue. An official selection of the SXSW, True/False and Edinburgh film festivals, this inspired one-man show is a bittersweet display of the writer-performer’s playful and embattled intelligence, and his gift for tracking universal truths by looking himself squarely in the eye.
