Parkland

Last week we showed you some stills and a new poster for PARKLAND, and now you can check out the first trailer for the film from Yahoo! Movies. PARKLAND is about the assassination of John F. Kennedy but instead of focusing on the President and the hours leading up to the shooting, the film follows the doctors, nurses, Secret Service agents and others that were there on that tragic day, and the chaos that followed.

The trailer makes PARKLAND look a little like it was made-for-television and I'm not sure if the actual shooting will be shown in the film like it's presented in the trailer (cutting back and forth between the real footage and Paul Giamatti's character filming the event) but I feel like it could have done a little smoother. It might work in the film and I'm still interested in seeing it, I'm just saying the scene kind of bugs me in the trailer.

PARKLAND starring Paul Giamatti, Marcia Gay Harden, Billy Bob Thornton, Zac Efron, Jackie Earle Haley, Tom Welling, Gil Bellows, James Badge Dale, Mark Duplass, Jacki Weaver, Rory Cochrane, Ron Livingston, and Colin Hanks is in theaters September 20, 2013.

Wow, really looks great.... For sure, JFK with Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones and the late great John Candy is my favourite.

Okay. Parkland looks interesting. I have but one main question. Does Parkland stick closely to historical fact? I might learn new stories about the 11/22/63 by watching. Or, is Parkland speculative historical fiction? A person might see the movie either way. But, he appreciates knowing how to "read" the film while watching it. Obviously, the film's story is still and ever pertinent, and the cast is pretty damn great. Let us see the reviews.

ET: Martin Sheen did a memorable JFK in the TV mini-series Kennedy in 1983. Blair Brown was remarkable as Jackie.

I think it looks pretty good.

My favorite actor to play Kennedy is Bruce Greenwood. The movie isn't that great in my opinion, but him and the guy who played Bobby were phenomenal.

This movie looks great, I wonder if they'll portray the conspiracy aspect of it or treat Oswald as the actual assassin.

Extra tidbit: As for JFK assassination in general, you can't beat Oliver Strone's JFK- of course. In regards to JFK's portrayal: Bruce Greenwood in Thirteen Days.

All that matters is which theory of the Kennedy assassination is presented to today's audiences. PLEASE READ

Oliver Stone's "JFK" is in my opinion one of the best films ever made. It was crafted to make people think, question, and look beyond with the government and media told everyone. "JFK" is phenomenal storytelling and presentation of ideas, and features some of the best editing ever in cinema. "Parkland" looks and plays like a solid TV drama release. Only this cast seems too big and popular to be a made for TV drama. I would still go and see it, but being deeply fascinated with the Kennedy

Only this cast seems too big and popular to be a made for TV drama. I would still go and see it, but being deeply fascinated with the Kennedy conspiracy and writing multiple reports on the subject, I would judge the film greatly on which theory of the Kennedy assassination their presenting to today's audience. To me that's all that really matters. Casting Zac Efron, tells me right there the producers want to attract young audiences to inform/teach/remind them of an important event 50 years ago. Just like Michael Bay did with Pearl Harbor only I pray that the same mistakes of making it less than a crash course of US history doesnt happen with Parkland. Young audiences need to be open to the fact that Kennedys assassination is still unsolved. Its shocked and concerned me that some teens had no idea Titanic was based on a real disaster, or even a classmate in high school who did not know what Pearl Harbor was. The events of the Kennedy assassination should never be forgotten, nor should the conspiracies. It's important to keep young generations informed about what our government more than likely did to its country on 11/22/63. It's the only way to ensure that one day the truth is finally revealed. Its PG-13, does that mean they cant even show the fatal head shot in the Zapruder film?

Again?

I feel like this story, particularly the Zapruder film aspect of it, has been covered so exhaustively in various media that there is almost no new angle to take. Maybe I'm wrong.

Bobby?

Does this remind anyone of that ensemble movie Bobby, where they focused on everyone else? Is this the same people that made Bobby? I liked Bobby...
