First trailer for the platonic parenting comedy Friends with Kids has been released

I guess I should read the plot breakdowns of films more often, as I had no idea FRIENDS WITH KIDS was a relationship comedy about platonic friends having a baby. I also didn’t know this was a thing that people were actually doing in real life.

Anyway, the first trailer for the Jennifer Westfeldt-directed/written/starring film has been released and it immediately feels like a cousin to BRIDESMAIDS thanks to a cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm, Maya Rudolph, and Chris O’Dowd (along with lead Adam Scott, Megan Fox, and Edward Burns). It’s also giving off sort of a James L. Brooks vibe, which I like. What do you guys think?

FRIENDS WITH KIDS opens March 9th.

Synopsis: Friends with Kids is a daring and poignant ensemble comedy about a close-knit circle of friends at that moment in life when children arrive and everything changes. The last two singles in the group observe the effect that kids have had on their friends’ relationships and wonder if there’s a better way. They decide to have a kid together – and date other people.

There are big laughs and unexpected emotional truths as this unconventional ‘experiment’ leads everyone in the group to question the nature of friendship, family and, finally, true love.
