Foo Fighters Taylor Hawkins to play Iggy Pop in CBGB

I am happy to talk about any of the Fighters of the Foo. These guys are massively talented and while frontman, Dave Grohl is usually holding down a million different projects, it looks like his good buddy and drummer, Taylor Hawkins is getting one of his own.

Hawkins will be taking the role of the legendary Iggy Pop for the CBGB movie. He’s not the only one who has joined on though. Add these actors to the list: The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki as music manager Terry Ork, The Borgias actress Mickey Sumner as Patti Smith, Steven Schub (Chicago 8) as Dee Dee Ramone; Evan Alex Cole (She’s Outta My League) as Richard Hell; Peter Vack (I Just Want My Pants Back) as Legs McNeil; and Kerry Bische (Red State) as Mary Harron.

Hawkins is a great addition to the cast. If you wonder about Hawkins singing abilities, don’t. He does backing vocals on Foo Fighters and has his own side project that he fronts called Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders. The guy is also fun and goofy as hell. I have no doubt he can pull it off.

The story centers on, “Hilly Kristal (Alan Rickman) and his efforts to turn a tiny club into a groundbreaking rock ‘n’ roll venue where the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers played. The venue started out as a home to country, bluegrass and blues musicians, but when those acts became tough to book, Kristal turned to local artists.” The film directed by Randall Miller (BOTTLE SHOCK) also stars Malin Akerman and Rupert Grint.
