Ford tries the funny | Movie NewsAside form INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, Harrison Ford hasn't exactly been a workaholic these past few years. Either that or he's made a bunch of movies that were so unmemorable, I've already forgotten them.

The good doctor / space pirate / curmudgeonly actor is hoping to get some magic back with a new comedy called MORNING GLORY, from producer JJ Abrams (ALIAS, LOST, STAR TREK). Ford will star with Rachel McAdams in the flick (along with another yet-to-be-named female lead) about dueling anchors on a struggling morning show.

The script comes from Aline Brosh McKenna (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA) and the Paramount project will be directed by Roger Michell (CHANGING LANES, NOTTING HILL). Decent enough talent involved... although the last time Ford went for laughs (aside from the wry line delivery of his famous heroes), we got SIX DAYS SEVEN NIGHTS and HOLLYWOOD HOMICIDE. Hmmm, maybe another INDIANA JONES movie doesn't sound so bad...

Extra Tidbit: REGARDING HENRY -- that was a comedy, right? Sure seemed like it.

Nice
Agreeing with the post below, Ford is pretty damn funny, both acting and in real life. So this could be pretty decent.

And am I the only one that enjoyed Six Days and Seven Nights?? I don't understand all the trashing on this movie, thoght it was pretty entertaining.

Eh, "Six Days Seven Nights" wasn't thaaaat bad. I mean, hey, it had pirates, right? Anyway, I'm just glad that Ford's getting work again, whether it's this or Indy or that doctor movie thing he's doing. Always good to see him on the big screen.

I think Ford is actually a pretty funny guy, and however bad "Hollywood Homicide" might've been, his timing was pretty good. The premise of this thing sounds more his style though, since he's not afraid to make fun of his age and most news anchors are/were curmudgeonly old farts.

The funniest part of Six Days Seven Nights was the trailer when the movie trailer voice guy says "Go where no man has gone before" when images of Anne Heche are flashing by on screen.

And Ford can do whatever he wants. Crystal Skull sucked but through no fault of his. He was STILL Indiana Jones and still kicked ass. I blame the "flannel" for that pile o' stuff.

Love the guy.
Ford has been doing solid work for years with little personal fanfare. Hist turn as the baddie in "What Lies Beneath" was wicked and his eighties comedies (like "Working Girl") seemed tailor made for his style. Let's hope McKenna can do for Ford what she managed to do for Streep... Make him a star (again, in this case).

When he was on Conan O'Brien a while back, he was hilarious. He can pull it off, he just needs the right script. He's one of my favorite actors and I'd love to see him in the limelight again.

I also heard that Spielberg wants him to play a part in LINCOLN (can't remember what it was). But I've come to realize that he's probably never going to make that movie. I'll give anything Harrison Ford is in a shot.

And I'm all for another Indiana Jones.

Ford just got a little too arrogant in his leading man status for a while there, however if he's learned he's not the box office champ he used to be and is willing to share the spotlight then I'm all for welcoming him back to the A-List.

Yes, Hollywood Homicide sucked but I don't think it's really fair to compare the two. As far as co-stars go you could do a lot worse than McAdams and Michell

Oh yeah and Crossing Over looks really good.
