Strike Back below!
by: Daniel Barna Jan. 20, 2009

Much has been made about the similarities between THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON and FORREST GUMP. I haven't yet seen BUTTON, but it had former Joblo writer Ben Barna in tears, blubbering like a chubby, overgrown infant, so I'm assuming it hits all the right notes. As for it's comparison to GUMP, the filmmakers should be flattered to stand next to a film that many of us hold in the highest esteem. I guarantee I'm not the only one who wishes Bubba was sleeping next to me each night.

That's neither here nor there. Someone decided to make a montage, comparing various scenes from the two films, and waddya know? Same they are!

..was better. even midway through watching benny i had to call my girlfriend and express the similarities. i mean i guess if eric roth did something right with gump he couldn't have done it wrong with benji, right? still, gump prevails

I'm putting myself out there.
Well, I'm definitely going to have to say Gump is the better film hands down. I wasn't nearly as drawn into Ben Button as I expected it to be and thought it was the most overrated film of the year. The glaring similarities between both films really made me feel like I had already seen Ben Button. The visual effects and make-up were outstanding though.

Aside from a few key points (as mentioned in the video) these two films aren't that similar and I think it is unfair to compare since they are good for different reasons.

ROCKNROLLA vs PULP FICTION??
Could anyone do a montage of ROCKNROLLA and PULP FICTION?? (2 of my favorite films of my favorite directors.. if I may add)

The whole dancing scene.. the black & white main characters (One Two - Mumbles... Jules - Vincent).. The "twisted girl" the mob guy is in love with (Stella.. Mia Wallace).. The "thing" you never get to see (Painting.. Briefcase).. and so many others...

OH.. AND THE

Yeah, Gump is better. Both include some pretty nifty effect work, but Forrest Gump ultimately felt more...relevant? Button was a neat little fantasy, though.

I'd have to agree although both were outstanding but ultimately Gump is the better film. Button captures some great cinematography and exquisite camera work, for which Gump lacked. Only Gump carrying a more emotional story. Still both were amazingly entertaining, and they both come from outstanding directors; Zemeckis and Fincher.

Wow! It hard to believe that our writer here didn't know or did and didn't bother to say the Eric Roth the writer of Button is also the writer of Forrest Gump. Maybe this why they re similiar. I don't know it just might be.
