Fox may bring back Prison Break in a new limited series

06.02.2015

We're living in a revival wonderland folks; we're got Twin Peaks, Coach, Heroes, The X-Files, and Full House all returning to our screens and now we have one more show clawing its way up from the TV afterlife; TVLine has learned that Fox is developing a revival series of Prison Break, the prison-drama which starred Wentworth Miller as a man who deliberately gets locked up in order to break his innocent brother, played by Dominic Purcell, out of death row.

The revival would reunite Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell for a new Prison Break series which would be similar to last year’s 24: Live Another Day as it would feature a close-ended storyline and a limited number of episodes. TVLine's report states that the potential Prison Break revival is still in development so until something is officially announced, anything could happen. Signs seem to point to yes however, as earlier in the year Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell sat down with EOnline and mentioned that a Prison Break revival was a very real possibility:

We actually floated the idea to Fox very casually and they seemed very not casual about this interest, they seemed to think there was something there.

Miller added that they "haven't reached out to anyone [cast members] just yet. It's just baby steps at this point, early stages." Around the same time Fox TV chairman Gary Newman had said that they would bring the show back "in a heartbeat." Prison Break was definitely a fun show and one I very much enjoyed for what it was, but unless they come up with something very cool, I'm not sure how excited I feel about the possibility of it returning. In the meantime, you can see Miller and Purcell together on The CW's Legends of Tomorrow, which will be premiering sometime in 2016.

Sound off folks, is a Prison Break revival of any interest to you?

Yeah this makes no sense at all...Miller's character was electrocuted and died. We then saw a gathering of his friends and family years later at his grave. Even if he somehow survived the electrocution...he was still dying from the brain tumor soon. It would be an enormous absurd retcon for him to be alive. So unless this takes place in the past (In which case their is no suspense as we already know the fate of all the characters we care about) or it's a crossover with Lucifer and Michael

So unless this takes place in the past (In which case their is no suspense as we already know the fate of all the characters we care about) or it's a crossover with Lucifer and Michael will be escaping from Hell, or he will be appearing as a ghost, or purely in madeup flashbacks...then yeah no idea what they are thinking.
Would much rather they revive something more deserving like Fringe, Firefly, Terminator, or Wonderfalls that were all cancelled before their time and grew larger cult followings post cancellation.

I guess if there's any show out there people felt was cut short, now would be the time to start a write in campaign to Netflix.

Dear God, no...

Like Heroes, this is one show that had a brilliant first season and butchered the rest. Not interested in anything else.

No. Prison Break has a perfect ending. End of story.

I've said it before and I've said it again.

Revivals should be for shows that didn't get final episodes. PRISON BREAK had one... and then a movie! OK, the movie was 2 episodes they didn't want to use. The point is that the show had closure. Not to mention that the most common criticism of the show is that it should've been a mini-series because the concept wasn't made for a long run... and they want to stretch it even more?!

How can Wentworth Miller come back when his character died in the last season??

And Prison Break was a great show. One of the first series I really got into at the time and anticipated on a weekly basis.

I agree, I'm not sure how a revival could work. Maybe if it took place between seasons 3 and 4, since that seems to be the only bit of lost time... but I don't know what kind of close-ended story could fit in there.

And as far as spoilers go, it's been six years since it ended and it's spent a good handful of years on both Netflix and Hulu. I think the warranty for spoiler alerts has expired.

Exactly, and you cant say oh it will be the time before he died, because they already did that in a made for tv movie. Where it filled in the gaps of when the show ended and the time lapse from when they were at his grave and how he died. So im not really sure where else they can take it. Unless they say he faked his death. Which is just stupid.
