Fox picks up untitled sci-fi project with McG attached to produce and possibly direct

Mar. 15, 2011by: George Merchan

Did you enjoy the direction of McG's TERMINATOR SALVATION, his first foray into the world of sci-fi? Whether you did or not, the often maligned director will be dipping back into the sci-fi well with a brand new untitled project from EXPENDABLES scribe David Callaham.

According to Deadline, McG will produce the newly picked up by Fox project, with an eye towards directing it. Unfortunately, story details on the untitled film are pretty much non-existent at the moment. Though if you want to know more about screenwriter Callaham, he was also responsible for the Dwayne Jonson sci-fi actioner DOOM. That might tell you something.

Meanwhile, McG just wrapped THIS MEANS WAR, the romantic action-comedy starring Tom Hardy, Reese Witherspoon, and Chris Pine. And then... the cinematic extravaganza we've all been waiting for... OUIJA.

I agree with The_Soloist

I enjoyed Salvation and McG happens to Executive Produce some pretty good TV shows. Nikita, Chuck, Human Target and SUPERNATURAL! That said, a movie about an Ouija board sounds lame as hell.

I'll provide the requisite hate

Salvation was horrible.

It was one of those movies where you kept wanting something to happen, but it never did.

And the lead chick, though hot, made me chuckle with her adventures in female empowerment fantasies.

It marked the first Christian Bale movie I was really disappointed in.

This guy's a hack.

Im with the rest here so far

I really liked Salvation, thought it was a good start to the next trilogy and i think that was its problem. I think most people thought were were gonna get more answers to how it all works, the time loop Arnold killing John Connor. But the action was awesome.

No hating from me....

I like the bulk of the movies he's made, but his directing can't take all the credit for that. His movies always have great casts in my opinion. I would have preferred a different Terminator movie, but I still enjoyed it.

I give McG credit. Not the greatest director in the world, but Terminator: Salvation was good and he also produces my favorite show of all time, Supernatural.

I loved salvation, the only thing I didn't like is that is focused too much on Marcus, I wanted more Bale action

I actually think that Salvation wans't as bad as many say. Okay, they tried to put too much in it, but it wasn't that bad. The worst thing about this movie was the wake of haters that ruined Salvation for me totally. I hope McG's next SciFi flick will work out better.
