Franco has 127 hours

James Franco’s next role will be as an amputee.

Danny Boyle’s upcoming project, 127 HOURS in based on the true story of Aron Ralston. Ralston was on a canyoning trip in Blue John Canyon (near Moab, Utah) when a boulder dislodged, crushing his right forearm pinning it against a canyon wall. Unfortunately, the hiker didn’t tell anyone about his plans and knew no one would be searching for him. After 5 days of trying to stay alive, Ralston’s last idea was to cut his own arm off. Eventually this was successful with the help of a cheap multi-tool knife.

Production Weekly posted this on their Twitter account: “James Franco will play mountaineer Aron Ralston in Danny Boyle’s “127 Hours,” filming begins early March in Utah.” The first hour of the film will contain no dialogue. Is Franco capable of keeping viewers interested in that hour?

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE writer Simon Beaufoy will be tackling the script for the film. This project might seem like it would be boring, but Boyle could make it worth the time. Are you interested in watching this? Or does the thought of it make you want to cut your own arm off?
