Robert Englund The Goldbergs

Two weeks from today, we'll get to see Robert Englund play Freddy Krueger again for the first time since FREDDY VS. JASON – which was somehow 15 years ago.

Englund's Freddy is the special guest star on an episode of the ABC sitcom The Goldbergs that's titled Mister Knifey-Hands. The episode has the following synopsis:

Despite Beverly’s wishes, Jackie’s parents allow Adam to watch “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and a disagreement between the families ensues. But Beverly dreams of facing off with horror icon Freddy Krueger (guest star Robert Englund), which teaches her an important lesson about her son’s relationship with Jackie. Meanwhile, Erica realizes she’s not as popular as she once was as she starts hanging out at William Penn Academy despite the fact she’s no longer a student there.

Regular stars of the sitcom, which is set in a mixed-up version of the 1980s, include Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sean Giambrone, Hayley Orrantia, Troy Gentile, George Segal, Jeff Garlin, and Alexis G. Zall, with Patton Oswalt providing the Wonder Years-esque narration.

Mister Knifey-Hands reaches ABC airwaves on Wednesday, October 24th, but if you want to get a preview of Freddy's appearance on the show two weeks early a batch of images from the episode can be seen right here in this article.

It's awesome to see Englund back in the makeup and the costume, and it makes me disappointed that New Line Cinema hasn't been continuing to pump out new NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movies starring Englund over the last 15 years. What a missed opportunity.
