Full trailer for Disney's Frozen with Kristen Bell makes for an upbeat, snowy romp

Sep. 26, 2013by:

We've already seen some footage from Disney's FROZEN, but today we have the full trailer, which paints a better portrait of what the movie is about. It's a fairly standard model for the Disney animated crowd and feels very much like a film that lives and breathes in the same world that was created with 2010's TANGLED. Starring Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Alan Tudyk, and Idina Menzel, the icy family adventure looks serviceable enough with some quirky fun characters and a fitting "cold" theme for it's holiday release date.

Take a look:

Here's the synopsis:

Fearless optimist Anna teams up with Kristoff in an epic journey, encountering Everest-like conditions, and a hilarious snowman named Olaf in a race to find Anna's sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in eternal winter.

I was pleasantly surprised by TANGLED when I saw it and would even venture to say that it was a good flick. Fun characters, solid animation, and a good song line-up made for a surprisingly enjoyable CGI animated flick. While some Disney aficionado's prefer the traditional animation, I'm game for the digital stuff if it works as well as this.

FROZEN hits theaters on November 27, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: Do you have a preference between CGI or traditional animation when it comes to these types of Disney flicks? I'm torn, really.

Hey kids too young to remember Tangled, here's more originality from Disney.
It really does look like all Disney can do animation wise is crank out the princesses.
We'll keep the Pixar name for the good stuff.

I'd say that's a nicely edited trailer. It looks fun enough to watch with your family, but it really adds nothing new to the formula.

Also, I think traditional hand drawn animation works better when applied to a more serious or heavy material than fairytale comedy. That doesn't mean it can't be for all ages, but a little more substance would go a long way. If I learn anything from Ghibli movies it's that with that high level of quality the content must also be raised above the bar.

It looks pretty good!

But I wish they would go back to the old look. It just looks like every other animated movie coming out. It still looks fun, just wish they would have gone throwback Disney on me.

It's not so much about the animation as much as the modern humor. What ever happened to a Disney animation DRAMA? Tangled wasn't "bad", but this looks like it's unofficial sequel. Pass for me.

Gorgeous animation, even if I prefer hand-drawn. Seriously irritating tone with everything being modern-day jokes.
Can't they make movies like Disney used to make them? Can't they learn from Miyazaki?

Come on...

Enough with the whining about traditional animation. It's done and it's not coming back. Give it up and accept that CGI animation is here to stay. I mean, it's been what, over a decade now? You'd think most people would be used to it.

Its still in use today. Just because Disney is CGI happy doesnt mean its gone and buried

I think they couldve benefited from traditional animation to distinguish its look from Tangled
