Julie Delpy's 2 DAYS IN NEW YORK, a sequel of sorts to her 2 DAYS IN PARIS, has landed a full-length trailer, which oozes a female Woody Allen from start to finish only with a little more goofball humor.  Delpy wrote and directed both films, the first co-starring Adam Goldberg as her love interest with comedian/actor Chris Rock taking the mantle stateside.

Enjoy your visit:

This looks cutesy and whimsical, with a little more "stinky, drunk relatives" humor than I care for, but there it is.  On the flipside, it seems like Rock is playing the straight man though all the hijinks, which is interesting considering is more raucous roles before this.  It really seems like he'll steal the show here.  Delpy is fun enough, but aside from Richard Linklater's BEFORE SUNRISE films (of which she'll film another sequel to this summer), she's been pretty under the radar.

Here's the synopsis, in case the trailer wasn't enough:

Marion and Mingus live cozily--perhaps too cozily--with their cat and two young children from previous relationships. However, when Marion's jolly father (played by director Delpy's real-life dad), her oversexed sister, and her sister's outrageous boyfriend unceremoniously descend upon them for a visit, it initiates two unforgettable days that will test Marion and Mingus's relationship. With their unwitting racism and sexual frankness, the French triumvirate hilariously has no boundaries or filters... and no person is left unscathed in its wake.

2 DAYS IN NEW YORK hits VOD on July 6, 2012 and opens in theaters on August 10, 2012.

I like what I saw from the trailer. It seems downplayed, but cute. I also like the Rock is playing more a straight man here. It's nice to see him toned down and in something that isn't much his style. I also like that this isn't the cliche "two different kinds of families getting together" kind of comedy.
