Unsettling full trailer for HBO's The Leftovers starring Justin Theroux

Television has yet to yield a TV series with as much mystery as LOST. The iconic ABC series about survivors of a plane crash had such an intricate mythology that it instantly became an important moment in television history. Since then, numerous shows have tried to build something like it and have failed miserably. Maybe it will take showrunner Damon Lindelof and a new series to recreate that same popularity.

a couple of weeks ago, we got a look at the brief teaser for Lindelof's HBO series THE LEFTOVERS. It smacked of surreal and supernatural themes that reminded me of THE WALKING DEAD meets LOST with a little TWIN PEAKS thrown in for good measure. Now, we have a full trailer that premiered in front of GAME OF THRONES last night that takes the series to a whole new level.

Starring Justin Theroux, Amy Brennaman, Carrie Coon, Christopher Eccleston, Ann Dowd, Amanda Warren, Liv Tyler, and Michael Gaston, THE LEFTOVERS tells the story of what happens to the world after 2% of the global population suddenly disappears. Is it The Rapture or something artificial? The trailer doesn't say but it definitely does a good job of showing just how f*cked up the world could get if such an event took place. Just how long a show like THE LEFTOVERS could remain interesting remains to be seen, but it definitely holds as much promise as the Stephen King series UNDER THE DOME.

THE LEFTOVERS premieres on HBO on June 29, 2014.

This blew my mind before GoT last night. I'm definitely putting this on my summer show list. Amped.

Definitely looks interesting. The entire trailer reminded me of a Stephen King book.

It doesn't look bad, but at the same time it doesn't grab my attention quite like some of HBO's best shows (Game of Thrones, True Detective, Boardwalk Empire, etc.). I already have a bunch of shows to keep up with. I'll probably wait to see what the word of mouth is before committing to another show.

Looks interesting, but is Lindeloff writing for this? Cause....I'm not so sure about that. The trailer kind of felt mixed for me. A lot of crazy stuff going on, but the whole thing didn't really feel like one of HBO's best shows. It really did have that air of a network genre show, but with enough mature stuff that it could only be on HBO. I'll wait for buzz about this one.

This looks so good. LOST still remains my favorite TV show of all time. Having Lindelof make the jump to HBO is promising. Can't wait!

Looks very interesting, and it's got a great line-up of creative talent both in front of and behind the camera. Berg's movies might be very hit-or-miss, but his foray into television with Friday Night Lights turned out to be one of my favorite shows of all-time. And according to Lindelof's pitch to HBO about the tone of this series... 'Imagine if Lost and Friday Night Lights had a baby, and that baby was severely neglected' ...sounds pretty much amazing (in terms of the analogy, at least). I'm
