Strike Back below!

It's set to star Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell as Sherlock Holmes and Watson. It's produced by Judd Apatow. It's written by Etan Cohen (TROPIC THUNDER). And it may very well have rocketed to the top of must must-see list. Of course calling it the funniest movie ever is perhaps a slight overstatement but just hearing that Cohen and Ferrell will be co-starring as Sherlock Holmes and Watson makes me laugh (what can I say, I'm a cheap date). Easily the best post-ANCHORMAN Will Ferrell movie was TALLADEGA NIGHTS and that was due in no short part to Cohen's contributions. This movie should not be confused with Guy Ritchie's reboot of Sherlock Holmes at Warner Bros., which will be much more action/adventure oriented. While there may some action in this untitled film, it will be primarily comedy driven. Still no word on who would direct the film but I'd be all up for Adam McKay (TALLADEGA, STEP BROTHERS) returning to work with the two actors again. Cohen is still putting the finishing touches on BRUNO while Ferrell just wrapped filming on LAND OF THE LOST. It's unclear when this project would begin filming but let's hope it's quick.

Awesome
Talladega Nights is a phenomenally underrated film - it's pretty much on a par with Anchorman. Looking forward to this one big time :)

Hmmmm....
I still find it humorous that Ferrell is playing a character in LoTL, when he played a character named Marshall WillenHolly in Jay and Silent Bob Strike back. (Marshall, Will and Holly were the family in the original LoTL tv show, if you didn't know! :) )

'Three Fugitives' I remember that being hilariously funny. Then there was a film called 'See No Evil Hear No Evil'. I think those are my favourites.

Funniest movie ever?

'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'.

And I've never found Will Ferrell funny...at all. (Is it me, or are all the recent SNL alumni one-trick-ponies? What happened to talent like Bill Murray who could be funny in a variety of different roles, like 'Ghostbusters' and 'What About Bob?'?)

Any Sherlock Holmes comedy is going to go up against Without a Clue, where Ben Kingsley played the genius Dr. Watson to Michael Caine's bumbling Holmes. That was freakin' classic!

Talladega Nights was the best post-Anchorman Will Ferrell comedy? I can't agree to that at all. Don't get me wrong I thought that movie was funny, but Semi-Pro gave me the R-rated comedy i was hoping for. This movie doesn't sound like such a bad idea, but I am getting sick of Cohen. Hopefully, he can come out of his normal comedic shell and give us something new and funny.

The original Austin Powers made me nearly cough up a lung the first time I saw it, so that is definitely my funniest.

is he 'avin a laugh??
these guys still have it. it'll still be funny. if it aims for the kind of laugh-out-loud, bust a gut humour of classic comedy films, it'll do well.

but lets be honest, is any film ever going to top dumb and dumber, or monty pythons holy grail as the funniest films ever made? good luck with that.

You've got to be fricking kidding me. One thing that can be said for all of this is that as long as there are dumbass frat guys pissing away money to see these two, they'll never run out of work.

I agree. WF is not funny anymore. He tries to hard. Cohen, I still like. He does what WF can never do: disappear completely into a role that you no longer see the actor. That's talent.

Funniest movie ever... Ferris Bueller. Now, this could be funny, if it had funny people in it. Ferrel is annoying, and Cohen should be shot... seriously... shot. So yea, this won't even hanker a chuckle from me.

nothing will surpass dumb & dumber... with that said, this sounds like it might be just a little funnier than the new pink panther movie.

Sadly WF is growing stale. The new breed is the younger guys like Cera and Rogen. But they too will grow stale, then another will cometh.

There are different styles of funny. If you're talking "stupid over the top" funny, the funniest movie is Dumb & Dumberer, then there are funny intelligent movies and so on.

Anyway, as long as Judd Apatow is involved, it can't be that funny. Hopefully Seth Rogan will nowhere be found.

Pass
Two of the most un-funny guys of late. Aside from Blades of Glory, Ferrell hasn't made me laugh out loud in ten years. Cohen's schtick is too left-field for me. (Hey, I don't get David Lynch's "genius" either)

So, pass.

Funniest movie ever? I thought this article was going to be a praise to Animal House, Caddyshack or Fletch.
