Gareth Evans says The Raid 3 "isn't going to be happening anytime soon"

THE RAID 2 was released two years after the first movie, however we're going to have to wait a little longer than that for the next film. Fans have apparently been asking director Gareth Evans when to expect THE RAID 3 on Twitter, and while he does say he has ideas for the follow-up (Evans has previously said the sequel will start two hours before THE RAID 2 ends), he also says it probably isn't going to happen until 2018 or 2019.

It's too bad we're going to have to wait a few years for THE RAID 3, but it's not like Gareth Evans isn't working on other projects. He's currently scouting locations for his gangster movie BLISTER, and is attached to direct the heist film BREAKING THE BANK for Universal.

Although I do want another movie, I don't want Evans just to be known as "THE RAID guy," so part of me is glad he isn't trying to rush the film into production, and I'm sure THE RAID 3 will be well worth the wait.

I personally don't need a third one. After watching The Raid 2 I have full faith in Evans can deliver, but the first two movies had immediacy, as the second one literally picked up right where the first one left off (even if it went in a different direction).

Cool

Just the fact that there may be another one is good enough for me. Love these 2 movies. Love how brutal Pencak Silat is in them. I love how well the stunt guys sell the hits. My only complaint so far was that he could have done a bit more in Berandal was to put more effort into Rama having to choose between being a cop and helping Uco. At times the movie moves so quickly you can forget about this crisis of conscience.

I hope a big studio picks this guy up

He's an amazingdirector , Marvel or WB should hire him to direct a film.

I really don't understand the hype for these films. I thought the first one was awful and while the second was in fact better, it was still painfully boring. The director must understand that good fights need an equally intense build-up and most importantly characters we care about. Having a weird hobo assassin fight random suits in an alley with no build up whatsoever gives for a completely non-investing fight regardless of how sick the stunts are. In my opinion Tony Jaa understands this much

did you watch the first movie? If so, then you would know that it wasn't some random hobo dude. it was the guy who the main guy and his brother fought in the first movie that was thought to be dead.

@Jaymizze176 No its not the same character from the first movie it's just the same actor.

@451-1138 Its a matter of getting the back story after said suit is killed. He is shown as a hit man for Bangun and takes out a rival at his direction. You then see a few scenes later that he's also a a Father that wants to see his son but can't due to his occupation but can't give it up cause its the only way he believes he can make money to support said son. You then get the club fight which is more

I'm more than content waiting for the third film, as the second was so bad ass it would take a solid 4-5 years to come up with an idea to top it.

It's going to be hard to top The Raid 2 and I'm glad Evans is willing to wait until he got something more concrete.

Most Important : NO HOLLYWOOD REMAKE please !!!!!!

The raid 2 was the best action movie of 2014 and maybe of the past few years... Can't wait to see again Evans and Iko Uwais kick ass so brillantly and widly but I am glad Evans is taking histime for a new installment, that meanshe is not rushing things and will prepare to amaze us again !
