Geena Davis set to star in Fox’s The Exorcist series

Geena Davis is becoming a part of THE EXORCIST lore.

The actress has signed on for a starring role in Fox’s series reboot of the classic horror film. THE EXORCIST pilot is said to be a modern reinterpretation that will examine William Blatty‘s 1971 book, perhaps more so than William Friedkin‘s 1973 adaptation. In it, Davis will play the matriarch of a family facing demonic possession, as the series focuses on two men who are doing their best to combat the evil they’re witnessing.

The last time Davis held such a central role on a TV series, it netted her a Golden Globe for ABC’s COMMANDER IN CHIEF. Davis has certainly shown over her career that she can handle nearly anything that she’s been cast in, and THE EXORCIST should be no different. However, it’s all going to come down to how the series is structured and whether or not week-to-week it gives the audience a compelling story to follow. If so, one would think it’d be okay.
