Gemma Arterton According to the cool peeps at "Empire Online", former Bond babe Gemma Arterton will be trading in her spy seducing skirt and high heels for a god seducing toga to play the demi-goddess Io in the Louis Letterrier directed CLASH OF THE TITANS, the upcoming remake of the 1981 classic of the same name. In this go round, Sam Worthington takes the role of Perseus as we follow his adventure to decapitate Medusa and take down the Kraken. Things will play out a little differently, though, as according to Arterton, "The script is very different. Obviously the story is the story, but itís much more about Perseusí mission, and how he deals with being the son of Zeus, and things like that, so it feels a little more about him, and about the issues around that.Ē Surprise, surprise, a dark, brooding Perseus with daddy issues. Read more about what Arterton had to say over HERE.

Extra Tidbit: Arterton was born in Gravesend, Kent, England.

This is one remake I am looking forward to! I LOVED the original, still remember going to the theater to see it when it first came out when I was a kid. This is one film that will be able to be improved upon.

I do still love the original, but I think this is one where a remake would be in order, since claymation can be replaced with CGI.

Plus, I'm kinda on board with critic_h8r. Neither Medusa nor the Kraken were "Titans" in Greek Mythology. If they're going to keep the storyline and force him to use Medusa's head against a sea monster, then call the film "clash of the monsters" :) Hmmm...doesn't have the right ring though :)

Hey, as long as there are no stupid British accents like EVERY movie about Ancient GREECE have, and as long as they don't mix up their cultures even further by having a SCANDINAVIAN deity named in it (the Kraken), then I am happy to hear that this movie is truly coming along.

Nice casting choice. I was kind of pulling for Frieda Pinto but Gemma is certainly cute.

I enjoy the original too.

Thats true

Did some 1981 "Clash Of The Titans" research looking for $ figures-$16 mil. That was a large budget for a film in 1981-so on the "low budget" comment I do stand [link] for stop motion animation/photography and the labor put into it- it does look even in 1981 low budget-I love style actually -"Mad Monster Party" 1966. Can U believe it? they're actually remaking "Clash Of The Titans"! Never thought it would happen.

Cool. Nothing like ridiculous God fighting to showcase current-day special effects. Worked the first time!

Speaking of, Dr. F, I don't think I would called the original anywhere near "Low Budget" ;) Stopmotion = eeeexpensive.

I don't remember Io being in the original (although I might be mistaken, it's been a while) and the Empire article says she's the love interest, so I guess this means no Andromeda?

I know I'm in the minroity on this one, but I persoanlly thought Arterton was hotter than Olga Kurylenko in Quantum of Solace.
