George Clooney replaces Robert Downey Jr. in Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity

Robert Downey Jr. steps out of Alfonso Cuaron's GRAVITY and George Clooney steps in.

Warner Bros. has confirmed that Clooney is indeed replacing Downey Jr. as the team leader of a space station. It is also still certain that Sandra Bullock will take the lead, which is a pretty hefty role. Bullock's character will carry most of the film as a mother who is determined to get back to her child back on Earth.

Both Clooney and Bullock are off working on a shuttle when a space station is destroyed by the debris field from an exploded asteroid. They are the only survivors. Clooney had to work the film into his schedule. He will also be working on the adaptation of the Beau Willimon play, IDES OF MARCH.

The plan is to start production next year in late April or early May. You think Clooney is a good replacement?
