George Miller clarifies "No more Mad Max" comment and talks Oscar noms

Earlier this week, George Miller had stated that he "won’t make more MAD MAX movies." That seemed a little off, considering he had been talking up a FURY ROAD sequel and/or Furiosa spin-off even before FURY ROAD hit theater screens. Well, it may put you at ease to know that Miller himself was a bit jumbled during that interview, and did NOT mean that he would never return to the MAD MAX universe again. Take a look at what he had to say to The Hollywood Reporter about it, as well as his comments regarding the 10 Oscar nominations.

Geroge Miller regarding his previous quote on being done with MAD MAX:

I was saying I didn’t want to do Mad Max right away. ... I have a few other stories to tell. I wanted to do something small and fast. It got all very jumbled.

On the 10 Academy Award nominations FURY ROAD received:

The crew is responsible for making this movie, and I’m glad they’re being recognized in this way. I still haven’t had a chance to even look at the list. It’s great. I would never have thought this would have happened. It’s really nice to be invited to the party. It’s a really good feeling.

Some of you had guessed that the previous quote was taken slightly out of context and, thankfully, you were right. It's great to see FURY ROAD get some Academy recognition and I hope that clues Warner Bros. in on letting George Miller do whatever he wants with a sequel...when he's good and ready. In the meantime, click here to check out the complete list of Academy Award nominations!

Fury Road was great, but I don't know if I would have considered it a candidate for best film of the year.

Do whatever you please Mr. Miller

Let's not forget that George isn't exactly a young lad right now. He's old and making a Mad Max movie is definitely a stressful deal. Let him take his time and strike when he knows he's ready

Now that he's provided every possible answer to every possible question, everybody can quit asking.

The movie only came out 8 months ago. No matter what it's going to be a while before we see another one. The first two were two years apart and the second and third were four years apart, then a wait of thirty years. Miller has never been quick about getting movies out, I think he's directed around 10 in a span of almost 40 years. He'll make another Mad Max when he's good and ready.

i think the problem is we're at a place where most franchises come out with a new entry almost annaully as opposed to how it used to be, so expectations are short. Still completely agree, do one when you're Mr Miller, you've earned it.

This is true Violent Cop , more quantity over quality. Good on George for wanting to do it when he is ready. Look at what poor ol Peter Jackson had to endure on the Hobbit movies did they suffer for the lack of time??? Well he seemed to think so.
