George Takei introduces En Sabah Nur in this X-Men: Apocalypse viral video

04.18.2016

X-Men Apocalypse

Considering that the X-Men face the world's very first mutant in APOCALYPSE, there hasn't been all that much done on the marketing front to really paint a villain we should be fearful of. Fortunately for us, it looks as though Fox may be taking a slightly different approach going forward. Here we have a viral video hosted by what can only be George Takei in which the mood for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is set. Check it out!

For me, this is easily the best piece of promotion that Fox has come up with regarding En Sabah Nur. I haven't (and will likely never) warm up to his costume, but this viral video that is equal parts cheesy and spooky really helps to set the tone for the film and a possible 'end of days' scenario that the X-Men have to face. Here's hoping Fox keeps it going until the film's release!

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE opens in theaters on May 27th.

How can you botch a costume THAT bad in this day and age. People have embraced comic book movies and costumes. Sure some of them need updating but considering the success of Deadpool, and how on point that stuck to the source material, why the fuck is fox still so god damn afraid of dressing the Xmen like the actual Xmen of the comics. It says a lot for the quality of a move when a fan made cosplay costume is 100 times better than the $100+ million hollywood movie version. Here take a look:

Because whereas that fan only had to make a costume, Fox actually has to try and make a good movie that fits with the tone of the previous installments on top of costume design. Sorry no one consulted with you first. At least Prof. X goes bald this time.

While everyone is excited and talking about what DC is putting out (BvS, Suicide) or Marvel Studios (Cap, Strange), I think that this is going to be the comic book movie that sneaks up on us and is great. Hate on the costume if you want, I won't try and defend it. But Oscar Isaac is a powerhouse and carries a lot of gravitas when he wants to. We have Bryan Singer who has made absolutely excellent X-films back behind the camera. Remember the amazing White House scene in X2 and kitchen scene

That was him, and now he has Quicksilver and Nightcrawler in the same movie! And don't even get me started on how great Fassbender and McAvoy are in these roles. Plus, come on, you KNOW Jackman as Wolverine will show up for a great moment or two at least.

This viral promotional video is a nice tribute to Leonard Nimoy's "In Search Of . . ." Fox knows its audience.
