Georgina Campbell joins SyFy's Superman prequel series as Lyta Zod

Get ready to kneel before...Zod's grandmother? David Goyer's MAN OF STEEL prequel series has been in development for a number of years but now that SyFy has given Krypton a pilot order, things finally seem to be progressing. The first major role has now been cast as Deadline reports that Georgina Campbell (KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD) has landed a lead role in Krypton as Lyta Zod.

Set two generations before the destruction of Superman's home planet, Krypton will follow Superman’s grandfather Seg-El, whose House of El was ostracized and shamed, as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Georgina Campbell's Lyta Zod is a "member of Krypton’s military caste and the daughter of a general, Alura Zod. Lyta Zod serves as a cadet — and has also been having a clandestine, forbidden romance with Seg-El." A bit of Romeo & Juliet thing going on here it seems. Nothing about Krypton particularly interests me at this point, but if David Goyer and showrunner Damian Kindler are able to successfully expand on the world we briefly glimpsed in the beginning of MAN OF STEEL, I may just have to check it out.

Speaking of Superman, our next glimpse at the last son of Krypton will come in JUSTICE LEAGUE on November 17, 2017.

First off, had no idea that any network was actually moving ahead with this bullshit concept.

Second, I can already see where this goes. Jor-El and General Zod are going to be related somehow. So it will be even MORE dramatic when Jor-El and Zod battle each other as Krypton is destroyed.

Who knew SyFy had Bill Shakespeare on their writing staff, amiright?

Easily the worst idea in TV this year....

No one cares in the first place, but the fact that it's on Sci-fi just makes it horrific. Yeah, their Battlestar stuff was interesting (at times), but in general that is the channel that good ideas go to turn to shit. I can't imagine how bad this is going to be, but I know I'll never find out first hand.

They can't even get Superman right in the movies and people don't flock to the theatres to see him, so why do the think having a show about his grandfather will work??? Hahaha. They should have just used his father, what we can have 2 Flashes but not 2 Russell Crowes?!?!

I hear they're doing a western gotham.

krypton was a hauting mystery when you know almost nothing about it, when it was all just crystals and soft white light. when you add 3d metal computers and rocket dildo prisons all the interesting mystery goes out the window and you get your average been there done that alien society. i don't give a shit what vader was like when he was a kid. i don't care what gotham was like before batman. and goddamn i avoided any mention of smallville like the plague. backwards stories never really interest

I still don't get it as to why we need Krypton series. We all know the planet is going to explode anyway. So, what's the point?
