It's Jaimie Lannister vs. Leonidas!

Gerard Butler is currently in negotiations to join the Alex Proyas (THE CROW, I, ROBOT) directed Egyptian mythology actioner GODS OF EGYPT from Lionsgate, which currently has Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau already attached.

Butler would play "Set, a god of the desert, storms, and foreigners in ancient Egyptian religion. In Egyptian mythology, he killed and mutilated his own brother Osiris. Horus, the son of Osiris, sought revenge against Set for the killing of his father." Coster-Waldau will be playing Horus, setting the stage for a godly throw down between the two actors.

The script is from Burk Sharpless & Matt Sazama, who recently completed Universal's DRACULA script. No word on shooting dates. More as this develops.

Giving Egyptian mythology something of a 300 treatment does sound like an idea with potential, and Proyas has an excellent eye. We'll see how this turns out.

Alex Proyas? This should be cool. I love Dark City and The Crow, though I have to admit I, Robot was enjoyable but kind of meh. I googled him and found out that he was born in Egypt, so I imagine he has some personal interest in the theme.

This is a pairing that has my attention. Should be great to see Butler chew scenery as the villain.

I'm gonna keep an eye for this I like Gerard Butler and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. I was so disappointed when Paradise Lost got scrapped though that had the potential to be epic.
