Passengers Jennifer Lawrence Chris Pratt

Pair a couple of the biggest (and most attractive, imagine that) stars in a science-fiction romance and what do you get? Well, we're not entirely sure just yet, but with the first trailer for PASSENGERS dropping tomorrow, we'll finally get a good look at the long-awaited Morten Tyldum (THE IMITATION GAME) flick. Scripted by Jon Spaihts (PROMETHEUS), PASSENGERS tells the story of Jim (Chris Pratt) and Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence) as they find themselves woken up ninety years too early while on an intergalactic voyage to a new world. Sony has released one of those dreaded teaser for the trailer deals to promote tomorrow's full trailer but, at the moment, these brief seconds offer us our only real look at the film.

Our own Editor-in-Chief Paul Shirey has seen a little more of PASSENGERS than the rest of us as he attended CinemaCon 2016 earlier this year and seemed quite pleased with what he saw, saying that "the concept, style, and tone of the film were outstanding" and "the chemistry between Pratt and Lawrence is electric." Shirey also said that the "look of the film is sleek as hell with some truly cool and inventive sequences, including one where gravity is reversed on the ship, happening while JLaw is swimming in a pool. She's trapped in a bubble of water as a result and must fight to get out of it without the benefits of gravity to save her." Make sure to stay tuned and check out the full trailer on JoBlo tomorrow!

The official synopsis for PASSENGERS:

On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim (Chris Pratt) and Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence) face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.

PASSENGERS is set for a December 21, 2016 release.
