Get ready for war with this first TV spot for Duncan Jones' Warcraft

Warcraft Duncan Jones Toby Kebbell Paula Patton Dominic Cooper Banner

The first television spot for WARCRAFT has landed online, and although it doesn't have much footage that wasn't in the first trailer, there are some new shots. I wasn't that impressed with the debut trailer for the upcoming film, however I'm still interested in seeing it, mostly because it was directed by MOON and SOURCE CODE director Duncan Jones.

I'm also very curious to see how it will perform at the box office. It doesn't seem like World of Warcraft is as popular as it used to be, and I wouldn't be surprised if the big screen adaptation ends up having trouble recouping its reported $100 million budget. Maybe I'm wrong though: Is WARCRAFT a must-see-in-theaters movie for you, or are you planning on waiting until it comes out on home media to check it out?

WARCRAFT stars Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Foster and Paula Patton, and is due out on June 10, 2016.

This looks awful and uninteresting. I smell a huge bomb coming this Summer.

I love Duncan Jones, but this just doesn't look interesting at all. Also, I see the cgi hasn't improved since the last trailer...

Done by a great director, but i think after a big opening weekend (mostly by Warcraft fans). This film will cool off pretty fast.

Like others have stated

The CGI exteriors look too shiny and polished and it's borderline cartoony. But, it's still 5 months away from release so I'll wait and see how it all turns out.

Not recoup cost??

Almost everyone who has played WoW will go see this. That's 10's of millions of customers. Then you have people who never played but like fantasy, and/or liked the trailer. This movie is going to do VERY well. I'll be there opening weekend.

Duncan Jones is already an awesome director, but this is his first foray into a big tent pole type film. I'm gonna say this will be this summer's Pacific Rim...may not do awesome in the states, but will make its' money back and then some overseas...

I want to be excited for this...

I love Duncan Jones, and I think Warcraft has great storytelling potential, but I'm not 100% sold on how this looks. Everything just looks so darn clean. The Armor, the battle scenes, even the freaking Orcs feel just too clean. And that gives a weird artificial sheen to everything. I don't know. I'm still hopeful, but super cautious.

Can't comment on the popularity of WoW, never played the game. But the movie itself looks like a pretty good fantasy epic/adventure. I'm sure it will generate enough interest to get people into the seats at theatres. I can see this easily recouping a $100M budget as long as they don't have it competing against any other franchises on the opening weekend.
