‘Ghost Rider 2’ is happening and we’ve got the details!

The first GHOST RIDER film by Mark Steven Johnson is a piece of cinema I would critically describe as being “retarded”. That’s not a commonly used enough term when critiquing films, but here I think it’s apt. Anyway, for the proposed sequel/reboot, scribe David Goyer relayed back in November that they’re planning on getting meaner and grittier a la CASINO ROYALE. Oh, brother.

Whatever your feelings may be on Johnny Blaze’s cinematic adventures, good ol’ Frosty over at Collider dug up some new details on the inevitable next film while sitting down with the film’s producer Mike De Luca (BLADE II, THE SOCIAL NETWORK). Here are highlights of what was said:

– Mark Steven Johnson is not directing the sequel

– Eva Mendes will not return as Roxanne Simpson

– Ghost Rider 2 (or Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance) will be a hard PG-13

– The film is going to take place in Europe

– De Luca is open to David Goyer directing the sequel but it all comes down to his very busy schedule

– Says the sequel will be like “pushing the reset button” on the franchise

– As you might expect from the success of Avatar, Ghost Rider 2 might be done in 3D
