Ghostbusters game trailer

12.03.2008

Although it was briefly in limbo due to publisher shuffle, the official GHOSTBUSTERS videogame "sequel" is arriving next summer thanks to Atari.

Here's our first good look at the spook-shooters reunion in the digital realm, featuring likenesses and voices of original cast members Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, plus William Atherton (pencilneck EPA inspector Walter Peck) and receptionist Annie Potts. The story, created by Ray and Egon themselves, is set after the second film and concerns a new ghoul invasion of New York. Looks sweet!

Get your next-gen console ready for some ectoplasm collecting (though the game will probably be as easy as it is cinematic, to appeal to movie fans who may be casual gamers). Check out the new trailer below, or in big fat HD at Game Videos.

Extra Tidbit: Atari also picked up the new RIDDICK game.

It's so hard to make proper video game adaptations of movies but this game has been getting some solid buzz as far as play tests have been going. If this game gets at least decent reviews I'll definitely be buying it. My god do I love Ghostbusters.

Sounds like my JimmyChopblock's childhood had something in common with my own. I remember when I was in kindergarten my mom made me a sweet custom ghostbusters outfit for Halloween and of course I already had all the gear to go along with it. Man, I honestly probably had about 30 or 40 of those action figures. Ghostbusters and Ninja Turtles dominated my childhood... (or at least until about third grade when I started getting into X-Men)

The trailer looks pretty faithful but I'm not expecting

I've been a massigve Ghostbusters fan my entire life. I LOVED both movies and was a massive fan of the cartoon show growing up. I had a toy ghostbusters back pack and ghost trap and all that crap.

That said - even after watching the trailer I don't know anything about the game. I think it will be a mediocre to poor video game but - just like the Futurama video game - I'll most likely buy it just for the story. Here's to wishing GB3 would have just been a good movie rather than a video

I wanna be excited

Horrible voice recording, the graphics look nice in some parts, but MOST of the time it appears lifeless (haha), with bad body movement and facial expressions.
I'm glad they came back for this, but so far I will have to keep my opinion neutral on this.

This series could use a new film. The second one was somewhat of a letdown when I saw it in theater; from what I read later it was due to studio pressure to make a more kid friendly film due to the success of the cartoon and toy marketing. I was only 7 so I loved the cartoon, watching the first film a few times on video; which oddly enough I remembered was shown in school during a half day; unedited. But mostly my freinds and I were anticipating BATMAN which I think came out around the same

I was only 7 so I loved the cartoon, watching the first film a few times on video; which oddly enough I remembered was shown in school during a half day; unedited. But mostly my freinds and I were anticipating BATMAN which I think came out around the same time. Anyway Im rambling on. From what the trailer shows, Ackroyd & Ramis still have a love for the material; and apparently Murray does as well.
Apparently with these hard times, people are hungry for nostalgia and celluloid heroes, so why not put the effort into making this an actual film. I mean look at the past four 80's film series sequels recently released: ROCKY, RAMBO, INDIANA JONES & DIE HARD all made gold on opening weekend and beyond. All they did was take the good parts of the original film and focused on the qualities of what was ignored in the sequels. Granted the latter two films were slightly tweaked for modern moviegoers, but the characters remained the same. I just hope this happens sooner more so than later, so we dont end up with a BLUES BROTHERS 2000.

Maybe the best video game ever?

Ok, this looks amazing. Why this couldn't be a movie, I have no idea. Everything about that trailer looks great. Thank you Atari for picking up this game!
