Gibson on Vacation

Mel Gibson may have beat jail here in America, but Mexico ain’t gonna have none of that!

HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION, written by and starring the Aussie filmmaker, “centers on a career criminal who gets caught by Mexican authorities and is sent to a drug- and crime-filled prison, where he learns how to survive with the help of a 9-year-old boy.”

I’m really curious how a 9-year-old boy figures into the Mexican prison system here. And doesn’t that title just sound like it’s straight ripped from a romantic comedy? Whatever the answers, it all sounds crazy. And I like it. Damn you, Hollywood!

The movie will be directed by Gibson protege Adrian Grunberg, first assistant director on the Gibson-directed APOCALYPTO, and produced by Stacy Perskie who was second assistant director of the same film. Shooting will take place in Veracruz, Mexico (where Gibson and his team also shot APOCALYPTO), as well as in parts of San Diego, CA.

The Mel Gibson Resurgence continues with next month’s EDGE OF DARKNESS, followed by the movie where he runs around with his hand up a Beaver’s ass in Jodie Foster’s THE BEAVER, and finally, a movie about vikings starring Leo DiCaprio.
