Gosling joins the Club
Jun. 5, 2008
Ryan Gosling and director Craig Gillespie are re-teaming for THE DALLAS BUYERS CLUB. Chase Palmer is currently working on a re-write.
"Dallas Buyers Club" is the true story of Ron Woodroof, a tough Texas electrician who was diagnosed with AIDS in 1986 and given six months to live. Frustrated with the lack of available medical options and unwilling to accept a death sentence, Woodroof found a lifeline using alternative drugs and created a lucrative smuggling business that made those drugs available to AIDS patients. Woodroof died in 1992.
Well this is pretty much a dead cert for at least an Oscar nomination. Fantastic actor. True story. AIDS-related. Homosexuality involved. If Clint Eastwood was directing there wouldn't even need to be a ceremony. Oh, and I'm loving this, because LARS AND THE REAL GIRL (which Gillespie directed, and Gosling starred in) was pretty much my favorite film last year.

Extra Tidbit: At one point Marc Forster (FINDING NEVERLAND) was attached to direct this film, with Brad Pitt showing an interest in starring.

I would very much like to see them acting side by side in a film.
