Grant Morrison and Syfy’s Happy! has got a new premiere date

In my estimation, the comics industry had no idea what they were getting themselves into when they welcomed Grant Morrison into the fold. As a creator, Morrison has contributed to some of the biggest characters and best selling series since his 1978 debut. Throughout the years, he's worked on titles such as DC Comics' Animal Man, Batman, Justice League of America, All-Star Superman, The Invisibles, Doom Patrol and much more. Recently, Syfy announced that they'd be hosting a live-action adaptation of the 2013 graphic novel HAPPY! written by Grant Morrison with art by Darick Robertson. Today, Entertainment Weekly shared that the show will now premiere on December 6th at 10 p.m. EST as opposed to the program's original air date of November 29th.

HAPPY! will star Christopher Meloni as a highly decorated cop-turned-hitman named Nick Sax, who awakens after a heart attack with a very special new pal. In talking about the upcoming adaptation, Morrison, an executive producer on the show, told EW earlier this year that, "The horse announces that he’s a little girl’s imaginary friend, and only Nick Sax can save her, because he’s the only other person who can see the imaginary friend, whose name is Happy — Happy the Horse. So, that’s our basic high concept. It’s about the most cynical man on earth being teamed up with a ridiculously upbeat, optimistic little cartoon creature.”

In addition to revealing the new release date, EW also shared four exclusive images from HAPPY! that have this oddball program looking rather intense.

Co-starring with Meloni will be comedian Patton Oswalt as the voice of the imaginary blue horse. Additionally, the pilot was directed by Brian Taylor (CRANK) who just so happened to co-write the episode with Morrison. All that's left for fans to do now is brace themselves for what looks to be a bizarrely entertaining crime thriller from the creator who also gave us this gem of a music video. For real, watch that video, it's like something that would have been playing on a Jumbotron during the MATRIX: RELOADED Zion Dance Party.

HAPPY! will now premiere on Syfy beginning on December 6th at 10 p.m. EST.
