Graphic novel adaptation Lore lands Dwayne Johnson to star

Filmmaking is, it seems, a bit like sushi bar.  You could say that Dwayne Johnson, for example, is on a definite roll of late with the great success of his last few movies (FAST FIVE, JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND).  But he's also on a definite roll in the world of upcoming graphic novel adaptations, first with CIUDAD, then HERCULES: THE THRACIAN WARS, and now LORE.  That's two rolls alone right there, and I'm sure there are more to be found in the life of a hard working guy like Dwayne Johnson.

Pitched as "Men in Black with mythological creatures," LORE is the story of how "in times past, the world was full of mythical creatures, creatures long since banished and held at bay by the secret society of Shepherds. But when the generational line of Shepherds is broken, a reluctant hero finds her life threatened from every quarter. And the creatures are coming back..."

The script delivered to Warner Bros comes from Cory Goodman (PRIEST) and Jeremy Lott, while the original IDW Publishing graphic novel was written by T.P. Louise with art from Ashley Wood. While Johnson's plate is very full at the moment and he thereby won't be able to start filming anytime soon, hopefully we'll still hear about a director being attached in the coming weeks.

Extra Tidbit: IDW Publishing is also where Joe Hill's LOCKE & KEY comes from. The next time you read written words that aren't on the internet, you read LOCKE & KEY. It really is incredible.

Story line sounds cool, I like The Rock, but I am not sure about Dwayne Johnson the actor.

I'll see this...

It's good to see Dwayne (He'll always be The Rock first to me) is molding into this modern day fan favorite like a Vin Diesel or Arnold. He is indeed hardworking which can be attributed to his wrestling career. Also, he had always oozed of charisma. Wrestlers get knocked all the time, but if they can make me love there character and then hate it when the storyline calls for it then in my book they have very good acting skills. He's just one of those guys you constantly pull for to do well,

Way to go, Rocky. Dwayne is a very hardworking guy and it's good to see him bag these potentially big roles in big movies. I hated Priest, but you can't always blame the writer so who knows, this could be pretty badass. Dwayne needs to pat himself on the back. He's becoming one helluva fan favorite, fast.

You lost me at "Cory Goodman (PRIEST)"

my wife and I actually fell asleep while watching that flick in the theatre; that's how bad it was.
