Grayskull gets writer

Not content to let TRANSFORMERS and GI JOE have all the toy-to-movie fun, Warner Bros. is still moving ahead on GRAYSKULL, their planned He-Man movie. John Stevenson (KUNG FU PANDA) was recently hired to direct and now it looks like they’re ready to start from scratch on the script. WB and producer Joel Silver have hired writer Evan Daugherty to rewrite the script. For all you budding screenwriters, Daugherty was a freelance video editor not a year ago but he entered a writing contest, his script was seen by an agent and suddenly he finds himself in Los Angeles working with Joel Silver and writing a He-Man movie. Variety describes the WB take on film as such: “a gritty fantasy [that] reimagines Adam as a soldier who sets off to find his destiny, happening upon the magical world of Eternia. There, Skeletor has raised a technological army and is bent on eradicating magic.” I’m troubled by the neverending development on this project but hopefully Daugherty can bang out a script that makes all parties happy.
