Great New Concept Art for Maleficent Starring Angelina Jolie

One of the movies on my must see list this summer is MALEFICENT. There is just something about this dark and dreary looking flick that does it for me. It could be the score by James Newton Howard…or maybe it’s seeing Angelina Jolie in all black. Either way, I’ll be there! We have five very cool pieces of concept art from Disney's upcoming film to share with you below.

Here’s the synopsis:

"MALEFICENT is the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land's fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal – an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king's successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom – and perhaps to Maleficent's true happiness as well."

The last trailer won me over as it finally showcased some action, great effects and the dark tone I was waiting to see.  Also, Angelina Jolie is creepy yet subtle enough in her villainy (the horns are badass) that I can't take my eyes off her.  She looks like she's have a whole lot of fun in this role with the rest of the cast.

Speaking of the rest of the cast; Elle Fanning plays Princess Aurora, and the Fairy Godmothers are played by Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville.

MALEFICENT hits theaters on May 30, 2014 in Disney Digital 3D, RealD 3D, IMAX 3D formats and good ol’ conventional theatres too.
