Green Lantern scribe to tackle Perry Mason, starring Robert Downey Jr.
Marc Guggenheim (GREEN LANTERN, ARROW) is negotiating to write the script for Warner Brother's PERRY MASON, which will star Robert Downey Jr.
Downey Jr. is producing the film with his wife Susan Downey and their Team Downey productions. The film will be based on the original Erle Stanley Gardner books and be another period piece for Doney, as it will be set in Los Angeles in the 1930s. Despite the enourmous popularity of the book series the character is perhaps best known for the tv series of the same name that ran from 1957 to 1966 and starred Raymond Burr.
Perry Mason is of course the greatest defense attorney the world has ever known, with the possible exception of one Phoenix Wright. Why's he so good? Well, he would generally get his clients off the hook and find the actual culprit in the process. That's one helluva lawyer.
Guggenheim seems to have the right fit for the part, as he was an attorney before he gave it up for a writing career. This wouldn't be the first work he's done based on the law, either- as he's worked on "The Practice", "Eli Stone" and "Law & Order".
