Green Lantern update

May. 7, 2009by: Omar Aviles

Green Lantern Since word got out that Bradley Cooper was being considered for the titular role in Warner Bros. upcoming GREEN LANTERN adaptation, there's been a couple of new developments. First of all, the movie has been pushed back six months from its original December 17th, 2010 release to June 17th, 2011. Why? Probably to allow more time for the CGI eyegasms. For that matter, release dates for Zack Snyder's comic adapted SUCKER PUNCH, Kevin Smith's COUPLE OF DICKS and the Mel Gibson come back vehicle EDGE OF DARKNESS have also been changed. Check those out over HERE. Secondly, the peeps over at "Latino Review" have landed some scoopage that unknown heartthrob Shawn Roberts and Megan Fox pleasure servicer Brian Austin Green are both being seriously considered for the Emerald Knight. Click through to read more about it.

I think Matt Dillon would do great, but Cooper might work even though I'm only familiar with his comedy films.

Green Lantern

Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Emile Hirsch. I keep hearing these names and have to ask, what kind of acid are you on? Do you even know anything about GL. Air force pilots don't look like pussies. I don't care if these guys are the best "actors" out there, you have to pick a guy who looks the part. I don't think there will be a need for too much "acting" in a superhero movie. I did like the mention of Shawn Roberts, he does look the part. Saw somebody mentioned Chris Evans. Maybe, but he would

Sam Worthington might fit the role, but Hal Jordan is arrogant, cocky, and can be a real badass. So I'm thinking the best and maybe only person for that job is Chris Pine, especially after his turn at Kirk. But then again thats my opinion even though I've read GL for almost 20 years. At least I'm not calling for Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, or Emile Hirsch to screw up the movie. But then again WB has no fucking clue how to do a superhero movie other than Batman so this one is probably screwed anyway. Should let Geoff Johns write the story anyway, without him GL wouldn't even be a hot property.

not sure

Have to get back to you on this one. Hal Jordan is a great comic book character, but I'm not sure who I'd like to see wear the ring.

Either Josh Hartnett or Ryan Gosling would be nice, though I doubt if two of them would want to take the role.

Brian Austin Green???

Not as the lantern, but i could see him as Sinestro. As a matter of fact after the Sara Connor show i could see him rocking that part! Make him the villian and this could be good.

Get Cooper already

Although I really would love to see Fillion take the role, I must say I've totally accepted and become excited at the idea of Bradley Cooper taking it on. I think he's definitely the right guy.
Just ink the deal already!

Nathan Fillion still remains my dream casting for Hal Jordan, damned whatever people think of him. But, after mulling it over some, I wouldn't shun Cooper in the role. Although to be perfectly honest I see him fitting Guy Gardner better.

read an issue of the comic and see if you ask that question again, aside from what others have said about the ring and the cinematic possibilities, consider this:

Its a superhero story that takes the hero half way across the universe and back again, he saves worlds...hell, entire solar systems in most cases! Its a fuckin superhero movie meets a sci-fi movie....like iron man meets star trek! how is that not a good movie idea?

as far as casting news, I still stand by what I've been saying

I'd love Cooper in the role. He's great in everything he is a part of.
dillisasexyman ... ignorant comments like that only prove that you are the "giant tool".

I've really fallen in love with the idea of Bradley Cooper as Hal Jordan. He just seems perfect. I doubt WB would even let Campbell cast Shawn Roberts, not with $150 million of their money on the line, which is a good thing, because Roberts looks like he is trying really hard to hide his homosexuality. And I really think that Brian Austin Green should just die already, he's an awful actor and a giant tool.

Here's a few

Here's a few actors that would make for a cool Hal Jordan / Green Lantern
James Marsden (Cyclops or not!)
Chris Evans (F.Four series for him is done-I'd think?)
Josh Harnett
Jason Sudeikis (of SNL-Ah, give the kid a shot! he's got the face and stature for this part..acting chops? probably?)

To kdraines...

...Green Lanterns have rings that can create anything they can imagine and allow them to fly and sustain them in the vacuum of space. If that doesn't have limitless cinematic possibilities, I don't know what does.

I still would like to see a Green Lanturn movie. I've read up on him recently and he's a pretty interesting character.

I still wish Ryan Gosling was in the conversation but I guess he dropped out. With that, I think I'd still like to see Bradley Cooper picked over the other 2 in the running.

Still wondering.

This is not to bag on the Green Lantern at all. I simply do not understand him. He's got a magic ring? Okay. So what?

I'd honestly like to hear from some Green Lantern fans out there. What is it about the character that is interesting and would it make for good cinema?
