Jake Gyllenhaal Earlier this year, we told you about the folks at Latino Review revealing that an offer was out to Jake Gyllenhaal to star as the titular prince in PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME, the upcoming Mike Newell directed adaptation of the popular action adventure video game franchise of the same name. Today, the "Hollywood Insider" blog is reporting that Jakey G. has officially signed on as the time-controlling monarch. They've also added that current Brit Bond girl Gemma Arterton will be playing Tamina, a princess who helps the prince in his adventures and who presumably gets a little frisky with him, and that production is scheduled to start in July pending what happens with the looming actors' strike.

Extra Tidbit: The latest game in the series, "Prince of Persia: Prodigy", is scheduled for release in fourth quarter of this year on XBox 360, PS3 and Windows.

Crap, crap, crap...Rodrigo Santoro would have been great considering he at the very least LOOKS middle eastern. But hey, look at 300...none of those guys looked Persian in the slightest ( including Santoro I suppose)

crappy casting
Santaigo Cabera(Isaac from Heroes)is the perfect person for this role.

BUT WHY?
I'm not sure how casting is done, but I wouldn't have chosen Jake for Prince...ever. Rodrigo would have been great. Even Josh Holloway with a tan would have been great...but Jake? He's a good actor, no doubt. If they said he was the new Spidey I wouldn't be surprised at all. But somehow, I doubt he could pull off the somewhat gritty character that Prince has to offer. Now....on to a God Of War...

1. If the game is really inspired by the video game, than the character should be Farah, not Tamina. and

2. Although the tidbit was probably ironical, the fourth POP game will be called Price Of Persia: Shadows Of The Past

Not sure how to feel bout this...i mean they could have gotten Naveen Andrews to play it(though he is almost 40) but Jake Gyllenhal is good actor so might be good

Still think Rodrigo Santoro is a good choice. He is a good actor and he resembles the prince.

see, i love jake, but i dont kno if hes right for that part, but also now if he's offered the spiderman part who knows if he'll b able to accept. I was banking on him as my first choice as the new spidey cuz like 95% sure the previous cast and crew fell apart. but anyway, jake, love ya dude, hope u do the prince justice

White man Persian!!!
Man, I'm Persian and i don't know what to think. I like the guy but does he make a good swashbuckling persian dude? I don't know yet!!!! and a english chick being the Princess!!! I love the games and have finished all them on every console.
