Hailee Steinfeld is in negotiations to take on a role in the Ender's Game adaptation

All I've heard about this week is the adaptation of Orson Scott Card's ENDER'S GAME. The heat really picked up yesterday when the rumors started about Harrison Ford in talks for a role as the Colonel.

Now it looks like Hailee Steinfeld (TRUE GRIT) is in negotiations for a part as well. So far the only person cast is Asa Butterfield in the lead as Ender, a gifted young gamer skilled in strategy and logistics who's recruited by the government to help battle an insect-like alien race.

If Steinfeld boards, she will play Petra Arkanian, the only girl in Salamander Army who quickly becomes Ender's ally and trusted right hand.

The role of Colonel Hyrum Graff is still up for grabs, as I mentioned before, Ford is only in talks and not locked down. Apparently they are going through testing several actors. Gavin Hood is set to direct the film which is due for release on March 15, 2013.

Good choice for Petra. I always pictured Gene Hackman as Graff. Ford would be better as Mazer.

She seems perfect, considering she was already playing a variation of Petra in True Grit. As for Graff, ever since Breaking Bad started Bryan Cranston has had the role in my head. The role I'm worried about is Bean; how are they going to find someone that small/young who can pull that character off?

Really excited to see what Steinfeld does next.

For me, she's my "the one to look out for" along with Chloe Moretz. Together they could be two of the most exciting actresses in hollywood once they're old enough to to get roles for adults. By which I mean, while between them they seem to be attached to every 14-16-year-old character part in Hollywood, when they're in their twenties, they will be running Hollywood. Providing they don't go off the deep end and fall into drug addictions etc like LiLo (which looks doubtful)
It's always exciting

It's always exciting to see, not only this generation's "bright young up-n-comers", but next generation's stars.

Not a bad choice for Petra

I can definitely see her as Petra. Her acting chops from True Grit is enough proof for me. I've yet to see Hugo but the kid looks the part for Ender... I can see Clint Eastwood though more as Mazer than Hyrum because he's got a more [link] and a calm demeanor that fits the character. I'm more concerned about the screenplay. Part of what made the story interesting was we knew what the characters were thinking, what they were strategizing and deliberating before they acted. It helped us see them

Part of what made the story interesting was we knew what the characters were thinking, what they were strategizing and deliberating before they acted. It helped us see them less as children playing video games and more as military geniuses of tactic and enemy manipulation. If they do make changes in the translation from book to film, it needs to be changes that SERVE THE STORY. I'm not the screenwriters so i don't even know if it's possible to make the transition. This is one of those movies i wish they will take time and care to make. Fingers crossed people, fingers crossed.

Should do a Cast This for Graff. Harrison Ford would do a fine job if cast but for maximum results I would suggest the grizzly talents of Sam Shepard.

For Hyrumm Graff...

I would like to see Clint Eastwood or Tommy Lee Jones. Maybe Bruce Willis or Michael Chiklis?
