Hammer Films to reboot The Abominable Snowman with Woman in Black producer

Hammer Films is looking into their past for their newest project: THR has learned the company is developing a new version of their 1957 film THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN. Producer Ben Holden (THE WOMAN IN BLACK, THE QUIET ONES) is attached to the film, and the screenplay is by Matthew Read (PUSHER) and Jon Crocker (THE WOMAN IN BLACK: ANGEL OF DEATH). The reboot will have a modern take, and the focus will be on a scientific team who wakes up the creature while illegally climbing a dangerous mountain.

Hammer Films president & CEO and Exclusive Media vice chairman Simon Oakes on the company's next project:

"The success of Let Me In and The Woman In Black has shown that there is an appetite for quality horror films, so it is exciting to draw on Hammer’s unparalleled source material in this genre, which can be re-imagined and updated for a new audience."

Hammer Films has also has several other solid sounding projects lined up: THE QUIET ONES and the previously mentioned THE WOMAN IN BLACK sequel are out next year, and they also have plans for a Jack the Ripper film called GASLIGHT. Some films don't necessarily need a reboot/remake, but I'm down with a new version of THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN.
