Hanks' CGI Bully
Tom Hanks and his production company Playtone Entertainment have a number of CGI-animated projects in the works, one of which, ANT BULLY, has just found a director. John Davis, whose JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY GENIUS was nominated for a Best Animated Feature Oscar, will direct the adaptation of the John Nickle children's book for Universal (who are anxious to compete in the animation game with Dreamworks, Disney, Paramount and Fox). BULLY follows a young boy who enjoys torturing the ants on his front lawn but learns a lesson about hard work when he's shrunk down to their size. He eventually wins back the respect of the ants when he helps them stave off a wasp attack. Hanks and Playtone also have the animated adaptation of WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE and the live-action/animation film THE POLAR EXPRESS, for which Hanks will also star in for director Robert Zemeckis (CAST AWAY). Davis will also produce the sequel to NEUTRON which is currently in development.
