It looks like the names we've been hearing lately for FURY ROAD are heading into the wasteland.

Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron are officially in negotiations to star George Miller's fourth time barreling down the white line nightmare with MAD MAX.

And according to THR, Hardy (BRONSON, ROCKnROLLA, STAR TREK NEMESIS) is indeed taking over for Mel Gibson as lawman-turned-road warrior "Mad" Max Rockatansky. They claim "the movie does take place a short while after the story detailed in 1985’s MAD MAX BEOND THUNDERDOME, which keeps Mad Max relatively young."

This actually goes against other rumors (as yet unverified) I've been hearing lately, that Gibson would indeed be back in a smaller capacity -- and one that would put an interesting twist on his nickname.

The movie, which has spent a decade searching for fuel, will film in Australia next summer.

hmmm this is awesome. Tom hardy is such a talented actor, He was really my fav part of star trek nemesis, and he was really good as the awkward guy in scenes of a sexual nature. I really wanna see Bronson but its not playing anywhere in Miami poo poo to that. thumbs up for this one.

Awesome. Even though I wont bitch if he is actually Max, I dont think its been confirmed yet, only that he is the "male lead." I kinda hope he ends up being that boomerrang kid from road warrior all grown up looking for Max

Despite loathing the decision to continue this without Mel and last week with remaking The Crow (which Brandon Lee will probably roll over in his grave with)Hardy is a great choice. He was in Pittsburgh filming "Warrior" which comes out next year and the dude already has an impressive resume, but he's gonna go A-list with his next couple of movies coming out. I like Worthington too, but he's...

Max was suppossed to be quite older in Thunderdome compared to Road Warrior. His hair was alot more gray anyway.
