Harold Ramis promises us we'll see Ghostbusters 3 for Christmas 2012

Why look, some GHOSTBUSTERS 3 news that doesn't involve Bill Murray being snarky/angry regarding the movie or his role in it.

Harold Ramis is well aware of the talk swirling around the film, none of it particularly good, but he’s come out and said that despite the rumor mill, the film is not only happening, but he pins it down to a pretty specific release date.

“Well, there’s been a lot of talk about a third Ghostbusters film, which has now become real. It’s… I can say with some certainty that there will be a third movie. It won’t be out until Christmas 2012, but the work is going on now.”

I honestly don’t think this movie hinges on Murray’s involvement, though I do think he’ll give in and show up for at least a cameo just so everyone will stop bothering him. I am not sure, however, that this entire project is a good idea, especially with Ramis and his writing cronies behind the horrendous YEAR ONE last year which would be an indication of their current comedy stylings. I’m almost half tempted to suggest giving the whole thing to Judd Apatow at this point.

Extra Tidbit: Has it been announced it's in 3D yet? I imagine that HAS to be the case right?
