Harrison Ford is excited about revisiting Indiana Jones again

03.22.2016

After a lot of uncertainty over whether a fifth Indiana Jones adventure would ever even happen, curiosity has crept in among fans wondering what would bring Harrison Ford back into the franchise. Let's remember... the last film wasn't received all that well, and there was a long layover between THE LAST CRUSADE and KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL to even get to the point of making that movie.

But Ford showed up last night on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE! to express his excitement at playing Indiana Jones again and joking as to why exactly he'd come back and do another Indy flick.

The opportunity to work with Steven [Spielberg] again on this character, a chance to revisit this character, which has brought pleasure to so many, not to mention me -- it's fun. It's great fun to play this character, it's great fun to work with Steven. I'm looking forward to it.

It's hard to really take issue with the desire to put the band back together in an attempt to do something cool with a character everyone loves. Now, if only that amounts to a good film this time, then we'll be in business.

INDIANA JONES 5 or whatever it'll ultimately be called will hit theaters on July 19, 2019.

"…Indiana Jones. I always knew someday you’d come walking back through my door. I never doubted that. Something made it inevitable.”

I am looking forward to it too! Love me some Indy adventure!

They would need to take this one back to the basics and stop playing it for the nostalgic factor. I know Ford is still in great shape but where does one draw the line with the age factor?

Cool

Great news, but, no way Indy makes it out of this one alive.

First Han, now Indy.

Of course he does!
He has to turn into the really old man with the eyepatch before he dies

I was not a fan of the rebooting idea, so I'm glad to have Ford back. I think they need to treat this as Indy's final adventure though. In my mind, it would be Ford's Unforgiven in a way (or like Rocky Balboa). Give us closure to the series and character.

As long as the script is good. Minimize CGI

He slept walked through the last half of Crystal Skull. He knew it was junk. One of the things that made the Indy movies so good, was Harrison always made Indy feel like he was in real danger, really exhausted, really beat to hell, on the edge of demise.

Compare his performances in the first three to most modern action/adventure movies and it stands out even more.

I'd like to see him bring that same effort to Indy 5 and young actors need to really study the first three (I'm looking at you

I'd like to see him bring that same effort to Indy 5 and young actors need to really study the first three (I'm looking at you Chris Pratt - and yes, I like Pratt, he could be even better). Chris Evans is pretty good at this, but not to Harrison's level yet.

Also, many of the situations felt real, not completely out of the realm of possibility. Not all of course, but most.

I say save ANY cgi for the end scene when shit goes down like when they opened the arc. Don't use it to create unnatural interactions with animals.

In all the failings of that 4th movie, Ford wasn't one of them. I'm excited for them to redeem themselves. Let's get John Rhys Davis back as Sallah.

From a physical standpoint

Ford actually doesn't look that different on Kimmel as he does in that pic for KOTCS. And he was 65 then. Take that for what it's worth.
