Spoilers: Has Colm Feore's role been revealed for The Amazing Spider-Man 2?

Jun. 10, 2013by:

SPOILER WARNING: If you aren't interested in knowing details about who actor Colm Feore will be playing in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, then turn away now.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is currently in production and we've seen a whole slew of images, both from director Marc Webb via Twitter and from a number of on-the-ground sources snapping set pics. Thus far, it's been a very interesting film to watch develop, as the filmmakers work their hardest to keep details under wrapsk, while shooting in the public eye. Not an easy thing to do these days. Today, comicbookmovie has the inside word that actor Colm Feore (THOR) will be playing none other than Adrian Toomes AKA The Vulture in the superhero sequel.

Given that Feore's role has been kept under wraps with absolutely no mention of who he's playing, it sounds perfectly legit, especially when you look at Feore. It's pitch perfect casting. How much of a role Feore's Vulture plays in the sequel is unknown, but CBM says that is will be bigger than we may think, saying:

"...apparently he will join forces with Rhino, Electro and Green Goblin to form the first four members of The Sinister Six, setting them up for the threequel."

With rumors that Chris Cooper's Norman Osborn will make some semblance of an appearance as The Green Goblin and the inclusion of The Vulture to the line-up of Electro and Rhino, it's readily apparent that the producers are stacking the villains high. It's almost a foregone conclusion that they're building to a Sinister Six showdown for the third film, which I'm sure will irk some fans who are more into the one-on-one formula, but for others it's the opportunity to see the classic villain team-up come to life. I'm not a huge fan of the first film, but I've grown rather fond of these developments and am looking forward to seeing which direction this film takes. So far, I'm intrigued as hell.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Chris Cooper, Colm Feore, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Felicity Jones, B.J. Novak, and Shailene Woodley starts spinning its massive web on May 2, 2014.

Extra Tidbit: What other two villains do you think could potentially round out the Sinister Six?

Yea they probably will or a fourth one in this series, they have wanted to do a venom movie for a while so it would make sense to introduce him, still though it will be cool to see the sinister six

Since Columbia will do everything they can to not let Disney get the rights to Spiderman, I think they're going to save Venom for another trilogy.

So, could we be lead to believe that that was Mysterio at the end of Amazing Spiderman? Interesting, all of this really has potential to make the 3rd work as a showdown with the Sinister Six, but I just don't have faith in Marc Webb.....yet. Amazing Spiderman was a good movie, not great and it seems Webb may be biting off more than he can chew. Hopefully, Amazing 2 delivers the goods.

Plus, I doubt he'll attempt Venom since he hasn't touched upon Doctor Octopus at all. That would be like making a series of Batman films and not using Joker....

Fuck this shit!! What's with all the balls in the air?!?!

Ok so it seems to me that Marvel has created a new fad-(it's not their fault they did it right i love marvels movies).

So we have that clusterfuck going over at Fox called Days of Future past. Sony is doing a Six villian, THAT'S RIGHT I SAID SIX!!! villian spiderman movie. WB is just trying to shoehorn Justic League together by fucking scraps just to not miss out on a multi-hero superhero blockbuster. So where do we begin?!?!

WB is just trying to shoehorn Justic League together by fucking scraps just to not miss out on a multi-hero superhero blockbuster. So where do we begin?!?!

So they have completely forsaken telling a story in this new spiderman movie and are just telling us "ok this movie is just going to lead to a 3rd spiderman movie that's going to have the Sinister Six" While we say "Hey what about the untold origin story you prom....." "HEY FANBOY SHUT YOUR MOUTH! You want to see the Sinister Six right?!" "But what about a story?" "FUCK THE STORY! It's going to lead to the Sinister Six, just watch it!" I'm getting no indication of a coherent story from what i've been seeing out of this movie? Is it going to be a day in the life of spiderman? Are they going to tell his untold origins? Nope!! Lets just shoehorn in villinas into this movie and come up with a good sendoff from the 3rd.

Days of Future past is just sounding like garbage. I really do think Fox maybe holding Singer at gunpoint while on set while yeling [link]!!" How many characters are we up to in that movie? Honestly? 20? or just abouts?! How many more will be added by the time the movie is released 30? I'm also really curious to see how long the movie will be also, cause if it's nothing short of 3 hours than whats the point? How can i care about these characters with nothing more than glorified cameos?

Man of Steel looks amazing and this is not a knock on that movie but on what the rumors of WB trying to push a Justice League movie into fruition. Why? Whats to point? Why don't you organically try to bring the movie into life instead of just saying "Justice League 2016 book it!! How are we going to get there??? Fuck if i know, just book it though you'll love it!!"

It took Avengers 5-6 years with a total of 5 movies total just to tell that story. Now we just have villian after villain, hero after hero being shoehorned into movies by studio execs with the thought of "The more we add the bigger the box-office, LOOK AT THE AVENGERS". It';s coming down to a point to where.......I want to see original stories with characters or atleast decent adaptations with a Beginning-Middle-End. I feel it's coming time maybe they need to cool off these superhero movies or make far less of them and plan them out. But i know that's naive of me to think because like Mel Gibson once said.......that's right i'm busting out a Mel Gibson Qoute "Hollywood is a factory. You have to realize that you are working in a factory and you're part of the mechanism. If you break down, you'll be replaced." I use that qoute in a conjuncture with the directors and writers who work at the bequest of these companies that hold the rights. If you refuse because of fan backlash you will be replaced.......Sorry for going off on a rant but......something i once felt great about is so boring and mundane. I used to love to hear about comic book movies and news but now i cringe when 90% is just casting news and more casting news....and more casting news.

You make some great points, especially about DoFP and Justice League, I mean DoFP is just taking the name of a great comic and throwing it on a movie that shouldn't be made (not right now at least) a direct sequel to First Class should have happened. Nothing I've seen or heard about DoFP has got me excited or given me any faith this will be good, They really did see the success of the Avengers and went well if we throw a bunch of characters together it will make a billion dollars, and I think

Nothing I've seen or heard about DoFP has got me excited or given me any faith this will be good, They really did see the success of the Avengers and went well if we throw a bunch of characters together it will make a billion dollars, and I think it will just flop (although sadly it might make money like X3 and Origins did, and we will keep getting subpar movies because of it) Justice League is def getting a strong leg to stand on with Man of Steel, but I've said it 100 times before, they need to give us a Flash and Wonder Woman movie before going into Justice League, Batman and Green Lantern have been introduced so we could see them for the first time in the JL movie, and it could be a movie centered around Martian Manhunter coming to Earth warning about Darkside or something. Rushing that movie will kill it and could hurt the Man of Steel franchise going forward too. I remember WB saying they would have big news in the coming weeks but that was like 2 months ago, maybe after the first weekend of Man of Steel we will finally hear where they stand. ASM2 looks like its starting to get a little over crowded too, but if they keep Osborn and Toomes from becoming their alter egos until the end it could work better and set up a sinister six movie, and I guess we dont really know yet what they are going to do story wise, they could be giving us more background on the untold story and his parents, he could go visit Connors in jail or just be doing research on his own, I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet, because I think the Sinister Six could be awesome in the 3rd movie if they do it right.

Colm Feore is an excellent actor

adding him to the cast brings up the quality of this movie big-time. Any of you who have never seen him, check out BON COP, BAD COP. He's freakin' hilarious in it.

Calm Down....

For all of you loosing your minds at the prospect of a Sinister 6 movie calm down already. Have you ever even read Spider-man? Developed over 2 movies the Sinister 6 can be done well, they are one if not the most iconic grouping of villians in comic book history. Introduce Rhino, Electro, Vulture in the next one than add Doc Oc, Kraven and Venom or Mysterio or Sandman on the next.

Sinister Six

its a great idea to set up the six for the third movie. They just got to remember to pace themselves. I know its probably all been decided, but i hope they just stick with Rhino and Electro as the main villains in this film. Barely introduce any other villains. Norman Osborn should definitely be a character, but dont have him dawn the goblin suit just yet, hint at it.

Nothing bogs a superhero movie down more than too many villains.

Mysterio and Sandman

Rhino, Electro, Vulture, the Green Goblin, Mysterio and Sandman would make a decent Sinister Six. I don't want to see Venom again. People wanted Venom in Spiderman 3 but what they got wasn't that good. Face it, Venom isn't a very interesting Spiderman villain. It would be better for them to develop a separate Venom movie like they said they were going to. Equivalently, they could do Amazing Spiderman 4 and tell it from the point of view of Eddie Brock. In fact, the way to go would be to

In fact, the way to go would be to have the symbiotes not be aliens but artificial life forms that escape from Oscorp, perhaps some sort of adaptive nanotechnology and it is Eddie Brock's hatred of Spiderman that creates Venom. I don't want to see a remake of Spiderman 3 though. We have the same problem with Doctor Octopus.

Venom is not just Spider-Man's greatest Adversary. He's also one of the best Villains ever created, so much so that he appeared in dozens of other comic hero's books. And the whole Symbiote saga was fantastic and spawned so many other villains for Spider-Man including Carnage who is BadAss.

not venom

I think Venom really merits his own movie, not tagged onto a sinister six movie or a Sandman movie. He really needs to be in the eventual fourth film, and have it be the grand finale of this spiderman saga. maybe have a Black Cat spin-off after all that

I like the idea of them moving towards the Sinister Six and having that come to life, but I just don't think they can pull it off successfully in two films. I think they would need to make at least two more Amazing Spider Man films after this one to actually develop the story and characters properly. But if the Sinister Six is actually forming, then I'm all for it. It would make up for the mess that was Amazing Spider Man.

I still would like to see Venom again on the big screen or actually

Now that Webb has more control of what goes on, I like the idea of him setting up a Sinister Six series.

On the other hand, the chances to watch venom or carnage are now gone.

Yeah, I could totally see him as the Vulture. Just don't cram this movie full of villains, it didn't work out well for Spider-Man 3. The best Spider-Man film was Spider-Man 2, and that only had Doc Ock (and perhaps Harry) as the villains.

Too many villains again = another rehash of Spider-Man 3, if they wanna include the Sinister Six then that's fine, but then will this movie not end on Spidey winning over the villains or just serve as a filler for the next sequel??

Shouldnt each villain take an embarrassing beating at the hands of Spidey before they lower their ego's and accept joining forces is the best way to go? As usual the cartoons get everything right (Spectacular Spectacular Spider-Man did it in a fun way)...but then they've always followed the comics more. You know...it goes without saying that once again I didn't give a seconds thought about reading this article despite the warning...such is my feeling towards the first film. That said,

That said, this is pretty cool news...but not sure this is the kind of thing that wouldn't have been revealed within seconds of seeing the character on the screen - and so isn't like a massive ...out of the blue surprise - like knowing Blake's name was Robin or for those that didn't know or bother abbreviating that Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division stood for Shield and thus allowed Coulsons delivery of Shield at the end of Iron Man come across as pretty cool. I mean what are they going to do ...show him is short scenes throughout the movie without saying who he is and then right at the end have someone else say ...hey Mr Toomes...you're a silly buzzard?

Aside from Green Goblin, I'm guessing they don't bring back any villains from Raimi's trilogy. I'm thinking Mysterio will be introduced in 3 & the sixth will be either Shocker, Scorpion, or someone of that tier. Kraven deserves his own shot as lone villain so I hope he's not involved.

Nathan Fillian

So I hate to be that guy that brings this up but does anyone else remember Nathan Fillian stating in an interview that he would love to play a bad guy in a comic film, namely Scorpion? Wasn't Scorpion a member of some version of the Sinister Six? I know he said no to being in a movie until Castle wraps but it wouldn't be the first time an actor has denied something. I'm just thinking out loud here.
