Has the Star Trek sequel found its title?
Paramount reportedly spent most of the summer testing different possible titles for J.J. Abrams' hitherto-untitled sequel, and word from inside sources is that the studio has at last made its decision. And for you hopeful sort out there - no, it doesn't tell you anything about the long-contested villain. If true, however, it does give a very bold suggestion as to where the sequel will be going in a thematic sense.
Ready? Okay. STAR TREK 2/UNTITLED STAR TREK SEQUEL is now (very possibly) known as...
No colon, no punctuation, no nothing of the sort (Damon Lindelof tells why here). Just STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, which coincides with a new report that Paramount recently registered the domain names www.startrekintodarkness.com and www.startrekintodarknessmovie.com. The pages are currently empty, but with plenty of high-profile films releasing this fall and winter to which the studio could attach a trailer... well, I wouldn't expect them to remain empty long.
STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS docks in cinemas on May 17, 2013 in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D.
I dig the title, very much in fact - what about you?
