Hasbro talking to Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg about Transformers 4

10.17.2011by:

He said after this, he was done, but Hasbro and is in talks with Michael Bay about a way to get TRANSFORMERS 4 rolling, as the series is still immensely profitable even if everyone is done with the films creatively.

Both Michael Bay and Shia LaBeouf had claimed that DARK OF THE MOON was their last effort. I really imagine Bay would want to move on at this point, and maybe he could produce, but I bet he’d want to hand over directorial duties to someone else. As for LaBeouf? I guess it depends what kind of paycheck they could cut him, but I bet they could cast some other up and comer and not lose out too much at the box office. People aren't showing up to see Shia LaBeouf. They want giant CGI robots and hot chicks.

In the same conference call, Hasbro CEO lay out all the other film projects the toy company has going:

"We continue to actively develop a number of additional Hasbro films with great partners and writers, including Micronauts, Ouija, Candyland, Risk, Stretch Armstrong, Clue and Monopoly."

It really does sound even more ridiculous when you lay them all out like that .He goes on to say the Ouija’s budget is being cut, but I actually thought the project was dead altogether, as that’s what we had last heard. So, TRANSFORMERS 4?

Extra Tidbit: Please, no more. My sense can't take it.

Whilst there is so much wrong with these movies (story and character wise), I enjoyed all three of them...with the second being the least favourite and the epic third one being the best. One of my main problems with them was that Shia LaBeouf's character was still pretty much a loser...after all he's done. By the start of the third film...he should have been an expert in the field of the Autobots and Decepticons. Didn't he also inherit their knowledge in the second movie after being zapped

Didn't he also inherit their knowledge in the second movie after being zapped by a piece of the Allspark? In the third movie when Bumblebee was about to die...I honestly thought he'd "somehow" come to rescue...but it was not meant to be. Yes, I know he made telling contributions but I don't think that was enough. It just seems to me that none of the humans did much. I agree with what someone else said below...might as well make a movie without the humans.

No more movies made for the sake of selling shit. If you don't have a story to start with, you shouldn't even think about making a damn movie about anything.

REBOOT

Reboot with something a bit more faithful to the comics and/or cartoon. That's folks have been waiting to see. Not a teenage romance with robots in the background.

I admit that I enjoy Transformers movies. Revenge of the Fallen is my least favorite. It's a robot smashing each other for about 2 hours and it's not high art or anything. So enjoy the movies.

I don't hate the movies & I think most of the hate is because its MIchael Bay, I mean these are movies about robots from another planet, even the animated movie was cheesy as hell. I highly doubt we will ever see the dinobots or unicron or cybertron as long as Bay is still at the helm....just gotta go with the fact that these movies make a ton of money & it's not like all the haters didn't go see them anyways. Who would have thunk we would have 3 movies already.

I think we heard that Statham was being approached to be in a fourth installment. That's what it would take for me to see it but I still wouldn't pay.

Bay will never do a fourth. He doesn't seem like the type that would hang around for that long. He wants new, better, and bigger.. and the Transformer bus is exhausted at this point. These Hasbro guys should know better to even ask him.

The only way they could do another movie with the way they ended the last one, is to do a live action version of the 80's cartoon movie. If they did that at least there might be a chance of seeing Ultra Magnus in it.

The beginning

of the 3th was very impressive and i just wanted to see more of cybertron, the cgi is superb so why not remake the cartoon movie with some little changes where its mostly robots and very little human interaction.

Personally I think all the loose ends were tied up nicely for Bay. Leave it alone. Now, about a Beast Wars trilogy...DO IT! RAT TRAP!!!

John Matrix speaks with wisdom

personally i didnt like any of the three. but i tried. who is there left for the autobots to fight. the obvious answer flying around is Unicron...sorry...no interest in that.
love to see a reboot. wont happen though, John Q. Moviegoer wouldnt understand ''why they look different''.

I might get hate for this because for some reason those movies seem to be loved by most people BUT if they'd have to make a 4th one I'd just reboot the thing and do it properly. I mean, most of the time the robots look like scrap metal and when they fight it's even worst, it looks like scrap metal thrown in a blender. A Transformers movie should be more than just hot girls and explosions.
And I don't think the Transformers would look less real if they made them look and act like they did in

This definitely sounds good. "hoodlum.thunder" up top is half-right - there won't be much interest but if it's good, interest will build. People will still want to check it out, especially since, hopefully, it won't be a michael bay incarnation... hopefully. If the storytelling is good, interest will pick up. There will always be interest in good stories, what matters is how they're told. A new director/perspective can give this franchise the love it deserves and needs on the big screen.

Dark of the Moon was pretty damn impressive, I thought. It more than made up for that abomination of a 2nd film. I just don't know whats left for a 4th movie after the amount of deaths that took place in the 3rd. I guess the Quintissons could be a good villain.

I was done with this franchise after the first one. Granted, it wasn't that bad, but I can't help but blame Transformers for the glut of existing properties and bloated, story-light testosterone-fueled dreck that populates the cinemas every summer. Every time they break a record at the box office, it's another blow against intelligent, quality filmmaking (I'd even argue Bay is better than this, or at least he used to be).

Still love the Transformers..but bring in some new blood.

Duncan Jones, Guillermo Del Toro...there are alot talented directors out there that could do the transformers justice. Just NOT someone like Brett Ratner!

And even though the original was great, I've always thought a "Clue" remake (a new MOVIE, not the "Twilight-style tween" show coming to the CW) would be pretty damn cool w/ some of today's actors updating the roles of Plum, Scarlet, Mustard, Peacock, Green, White & Wadsworth. If the studio producing it could somehow get Tim Curry, Michael

Del Toro is definitely better than any Transformers franchise, ya don't just throw out names of directors especially when the biggest name of all is attached to Transformers already, ya I'm talking Speilberg

I wouldn't mind a new Transformers movie.. but give it some time... let Bay make some more original projects first. (Or, perhaps Bad Boys 3!)

I fear with this news, and the fact that Bay might not return, we may be stepping into remake- reboot territory soon on this franchise.

Let's bring'em back and actually see if they can make a good movie (though I enjoyed the first). In all seriousness, as much as I hate to say reboot, let's start fresh in a few years. I think Bay ruined the franchise as much as he could with the last two movies, that story (can you call it that?) is just done...

After Revenge of the Fallen, no matter how bad the eventual sequels will be, they're going to be better than that offensive, bloated, humor-challenged, POS.

Even though three is enough, I would only be down if LaBeouf AND Bay both came back to do a fourth.

I would also like to see Josh Duhamel and Tyrese come back as well.

No More Bay!

I would really like to see what someone else can do with Transformers. James Cameron or Guillermo Del Toro would be nice. Just get someone who cares about story and plot. Also someone who will let Transformers star in a Transformers movie for once.

Do they really need Shia or Tyrese/Duhammel back in another Transformers movie? They were basically nameless guys running around and screaming throughout 3 straight movies. None of them had any character background whatsoever.

Oh wait, Witwicky had a great grandfather who found Megatron and had alien encoded glasses or something.
