Spoilers: Havok confirmed plus new character and plot details for X-Men: Days of Future Past

Let's get the less spoilery stuff out of the way first: at the beginning of last month we caught wind that Lucas Till (Havok) was spotted in Montreal while X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST was filming. At the time there was no other news on Till's involvement with the film, but today Bryan Singer has confirmed on (where else?) his Twitter account that Lucas Till is back for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and posted this image of the actor:

Now on to some plot details and spoilers that might be revealed for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST at SDCC. To learn more, just scroll past the worst Wolverine costume you'll ever see.

There's a specific reason why I used Wolvie as the spoiler. Vulture has learned some of the secrets about the new film, and if you're one of those fans that are sick of the X-MEN films being so Wolverine-centric I've got some bad news for you. In the comics that X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is based off of, Kitty Pryde sends herself into the past to warn the X-Men about the assassination of a senator that will create a Sentinel controlled dystopian future. The X-Men, of course, must prevent the event from happening.

According to Vulture's sources, it'll be a little different in the movie:

In Singer's take, Ellen Page returns as Kitty from the Brett Ratner–directed X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, but this time she uses her powers to send Hugh Jackman's Wolverine back into the past, where he encounters the younger mutants played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender. However, something bad happens to Kitty during the time-travel trance, and while Wolverine is still under her spell, the other X-Men must race to find a mutant who can siphon Kitty's powers and bring their friend back to the future.

This would explain those images of Wolverine wearing 1970's clothing. I really don't have a problem with Logan being the one sent into the past, but I'm sure a few of you aren't too pleased about this news. Also, would anyone be surprised if the mutant they need turns out to be Rogue?

Vulture has some other new information about the villains in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST as well. Many people have speculated about Peter Dinklage's role in the film, and the most recent theory has been he's playing Bolivar Trask, creator of the Sentinels. Vulture has learned that Dinklage will indeed be playing the character in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

Vulture has also identified Josh Helman's role in the film, and he'll be playing a very familiar character: a young Bill Stryker. It makes sense and would be another connection to the original trilogy since Brian Cox played the villainous character in X2: X-MEN UNITED. I'm a little disappointed though they decided to go back with Stryker, considering how many other great characters (mutant and "normal") have appeared in the comics.

We'll get some real confirmation soon at Comic-Con, and the X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST panel shouldn't disappoint. Besides new information on the film, at least a dozen cast members are expected to attend according to Vulture. A pox on all you lucky bastards that get to go!

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST starring Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellen, Jennifer Lawrence, Anna Paquin, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Ellen Page, Halle Berry and Shawn Ashmore will be in theaters on May 23rd, 2014.
