Hayao Miyazaki planning a sequel, but for what film?

Everyone’s favorite animation director Hayao Miyazaki says he’s making a sequel to one of his beloved classics, according to Cut Magazine (via AICN). What will it be? TORTORO RETURNS? MONONOKE LEGENDS? REVENGE OF PONYO?

Nope. Try PORCO ROSSO: THE LAST SORTIE.

Yes, the tale Miyazaki has decided needs more telling is PORCO ROSSO, his 1992 feature about a former World War I ace with the face of a pig. The sequel would have Porco flying in the Spanish Civil War. He says to expect the film in four or five years or so. Hey, animation by hand takes a while, ok?

I’ll be honest, even though I’ve seen five or six Miyazaki movies, I hadn’t even heard of this one until right now. For anyone that has, do you think that this deserves a sequel? I know I’d love to see another TORTORO or MONONOKE installment, but I guess I have to trust the man’s judgment.
